Im really looking forward to buying the cusco front strut tower bar and im just curious how well it performs opposed to other strut bars. Is it really that much better handling when you get one? Any opinions will be much appreciated. Thank you

well, if u use the search function, you'll see this has been discussed MANY MANY MANY Times.

The general consensus is: A strut bar is a strut bar is a strut bar.

sure people with JUN or Cusco bars will always go on about their performance gains, but personally I think a $35 pilot bar will do the job just as well. If spending $150 of a STB is your deal, that's cool, I'm not gonna talk down to you about it. Having the best name brands is more important to some people than others.

Where I will admit there's a difference is quality of materials and workmanship. I have a PDM bar in front and a Pilot in the back. A friend of mine has Cusco's front and back. His are little more neatly assembled. Is it that important? not really, it's a bracing bar, pretty damn far from rocket science... where it does matter is my friend's car is a show car, so perfect welds and more exotic build materials matter to him... my car is my commuter, and weekend dori-dori toy... this automatically says that my car's looks are a far backseat to performance.

Bottom line, a bar is a bar... but a pretty bar is more expensive

edit: did someone actually ban the word "drift" (dr|ft)???

Yoshi, yoshi.... you do have a point about expensive name brand bars. Personally, I have a Cusco front stb and its great. I have not seen the pilot or pdm bars in person, but from what I hear they get the job done. As for your decision, if you were think Cusco already and have the cash for it, might as well get it. Just curious, which type were you planning to get, the OS or AS type. I have the AS and it works great.

Yoshi,
BTW didn't you hump the curb not too long ago? How did everthing work out with the car? I would like to know.

When time comes to buy STBs, I will either custom fab a rear bar, or get the cusco triangle rear. It may not really do anything more than a Pilot rear stb, but knowing that it's triangulated and just looking at it will make my $250 feel well spent.
Up front, I would try to get something with bracing to the firewall, as Mav1178 posted a while back on Freshalloy. That looked good. Otherwise, I think I would stay with something that looked "buff"... haha like the Cuscos.
What can I say... quality matters to me!

the metal is high quality and it fits. That's all that matters for STB's... nobody could tell the difference b/t Cusco and OBX in performance. I couldn't. If anyone tells you otherwise, they lying or they installed the OBX one incorrectly, which can happen. Just looks nicer, that's the only reason to "upgrade". If you got $150 to blow, go for it, if not, get the Trust one for half the price

Adey brought up a good point, the 3 point STBs rule... and I think only the expensive companies make those, money well spent there for certain.

As for my curb humping prowess... it turned out that the culprit that led to my crash was a incorrectly manufactured TC Rod, it had a hairline fracture a friend of mine had spotted that we dismissed as just a really deep scratch.

STUPID ASSUMPTION.

new TC rod, front xbrace, control arm, and rim/tire later all is well... been running around again for about... a month now? Anyways, yup, all is well again with my car, and i'm actively looking for another so that i will have my race/project car and a commuter as well... if you know any RPS13s for sale in the PacNW area, let me know
