View Full Version : Black box on firewall???

I have recently pulled my ka out of my car and am in the process of cleaning up the engine bay. There is a little black box bolted onto the firewall and I have no idea what it is or could be. There are no markings on it, just a little black box. I did search long and hard and came up empty handed. I am not too worried about it just curious as to what it is. If anyone knows what this could be please chime in, thanks

I'm assuming the one on the passenger side, I'm pretty sure it's the wiper control.

I was wondering the same thing, its right behind the motor bolted to the firewall. Its not a box its just a block of metal. I took mine off a long time ago.

Im gonna try to find it and take some pics of it.

I just removed that off my car today, it seems to do absolutely nothing and it is quite heavy for its size.

nope.. Just a rectangular hunk of metal.

Doesn't it have a ground or something attached to it?

probably some sort of dampener to reduce vibration on the firewall.

i couldn't imagine that 1-2lb piece of metal used to adjust weight distribution.

i removed mine as well.

No, it's used to secure the AC hardline to the firewall to make sure it doesn't get crushed by the engine.

Hmm I dunno my car came from factory without ac.

It was on my car too im pretty sure its for the AC line to stop from crushing it but i could be wrong lol

All Stock got it right. Has absolutly nothing to do with the ac.

It is indeed a damper, nothing more. has nothing to with the AC line, it sits below it, how could it possibly protect the line from getting crushed?

this had baffled me for quite a while... im amazed me that nissan thought of that.

maybe it actually works... that makes it seem worthwhile

threw mine away along time ago. never affected anything. lol you should do the same. ;p
