I've been up in the air on what color to paint the bike since altering from a factory color is typically a no no with Ducati's but I finally decide on SEM's "Hot Rod Black" and here are the results after a LONG weekend, lol...

This is how I got her...

the damage on the tail... (note the exhaust)

the damage on the front... (ended up replacing the tank, b/c of how bad the dents were and you can' tell but the side of the front fairing was ground flat)

My Dad and I busted our ass for three days straight sanding and prepping the panels. Here are a couple shots of the prep and painting...

this is the damage I was talking about

I did the underside of the tank....

My dad did the top....

Turned out glossier than I expected, but the reps from SEM assured me it would flatten out completely in 48hrs, which it did...

I got in our "paint booth" and did the panels...

automotive, its that stuff hot rod guys use on lead sleds and rat rods. Usually they'll do a pin strip on top. FYI, its a great all around satin black and would work great for you "flat black" drivers out there that want an alternative to a porous primer.

Looks dope. Don't let the donkey's at it though!

Any painting tips you can share?

I kept them locked up the whole time, don't want any hair in the paint...

1. High fill primer is your friend

2. When using body filer remember that you are not in a hurry and that you should remove most of what you apply in each application, you've got a whole can of that shit, so the slower you go the better it will look.

but you should have ditched the fairing and screen, run an acerbis cyclops.
coulda been a nice fighter...

good job though

that would only look ok, but ruin the whole ducati feel to it.

Hey man, paint looks good.

BUT PLEASE PRACTICE SAFE PAINTING. Paint on skin is a no-no, paint near the eyes also another big no-no.

I've read about some nasty things that could happen to you without the proper gear.

Check out http://www.autobody101.com/forums/ and read around.

^ yeah man it would work great on your car.

sorta forgot to give specs on the bike:
>2001 Ducati 750 Supersport.
>900ss black seat
>900ss black tank pad
>painted timing belt covers and front sprocket guard
>new Continentals
>Vance & Hines slip on's
>K&N intake
>I pulled the motor this winter and had it rebuilt with new head gaskets, base gaskets, valves adjusted , new timing belts, and the oil changed.
>I cut down the rear tire hugger
>integrated led blinker/tail light with smoked lense
>smaller custom tag bracket

I've got on order:
>Ducati performance mirrors with integrated blinkers
>Zero Gravity double bubble wind screen
>HID kit
