I was looking at my car on the way out of school today and noticed my muffler tip has rusted almost off.  I don't have $500 for N1 duel which is what I want and need a new muffler now.

I was thinking a custom 2.25" pipes from the cat-back with this muffler on the end.  But i'm not sure what I think about this muffler.

what do you all think about it?  Or is there any suggestions on a muffler.

Also have I forgotten anything on the exhaust that I would need?  I heard somebody say a long time ago that most people for to put a resontator on, or something like that.  Do I need one of those?

thanks for the help,

Don't look for much of a performance gain from crush bent tubing. I would add a resonator if you are replacing the tubing and muffler. Look under there, you have a resonator stock. It keep things quiet. Custom exhuats are risky because they can sound normal, or sound like ass and be really loud.

Mine is rusting like crazy too. I need to get a new muffler, resonator, and tubing as well.

Your best bet is this:

You can find Mandrel bent galvanized or stainless steel bends in a variety of diameters and angles from either of these sources:

1. Local diesel truck depot
2. Road Race Engineering online.

All you're gonna have to do is cut everything to size, have the ends flared, and clamp it all together.  If you have a welder, it'll make things a lot easier.

I built mine in one day.  The whole exhaust has only 2 bends, one 60 degree, and one 10.  I also cut out a new flange and welded it in to the new system, but if you're using piping that is relatively close in diameter to stock, you can probably use the old flange.  Mine is 3".

All you need is an angle grinder ($30, worth it's weight in gold), some cut off wheels, and some clamps.  I highly recommend having the finished product welded together.

Piping will run anywhere from $40-$100, depending on how many bends you will have.  And of course, you'll have to pay for a muffler of your choice.  Please have some self respect and don't buy a cheap-o from Pep Boys...
