i have two questions that im trying to find the answer to, hopefully you can help me out on my swap issues.
Q1. are KA automatic and KA manual trannys' bell housing the same? do they all have the same bolt pattern?
Q2. i got a ka24e egr tube that i planed to use on my ka24de. i have OBD1 ka24de pacesetter headers, and for some reason the tube is about an inch short from reachign the egr. i figured that nissan would have used the same EGR tube for the DOHC and SOHC ka24. are the tubes the same or is my header to blame?

Bolt pattern is the same, however the thickness of the housings are different. At least they are same pattern where they bolt to the motor, now the other end of housing I am not sure about.

so other than being a different thickness the casings for both manual and automatic are the same just internally they are different?

That would be my guess, however I have not done a real comparison. If you want I still have my auto tranny from my S13, you can just have it if you want to come haul it away. That way you can do what ever comparison at you own convenience.

Well how about the overall shape begin different? (insert sarcasm here) I mean obviously the bellhousings are two different shapes due to the fact that one houses the torque converter and one houses the clutch/flywheel. Also the overall length between the two trannys is different.
Why are you asking? You trying to swap bellhousings from auto->manual?
As far as I know it's NOT doable. Both from KA to SR and KA to KA. You need manual bellhousings for manual trannys.
And for your 2nd question, no it's not your header, it's the EGR tube. The two heads are different from KAE to KADE, hence the extra cam. The overall size of the heads are different (KADE is wider) So therefore you have a longer EGR tube for the KADE. That one will not work.

Not even close. An auto bellhousing is shorter and has a shit ton more bolts to secure it to the case, plus it's a different size at the back end.
EGR tube is completely different too. Why? Because it's a different engine. The exhaust manifold is no where near the same nor is it's location to the EGR or the ports on the head.
