So guys I have been recently thinking about building some sort of extension ramp or something for my driveway. Its the kind which has a slight curb and turns right into a gutter. Its almost impossible to make it up the curb and onto the driveway when I am running the coils pretty low.
Have you guys done anything to help alleviate these problems? Does anyone know of something already being marketed for problems like these?

i have some hella long 2"x10"s that i'm thinknig about starting to use, cuz my exhaust is taking a HELL of a beating from my driveway.
but when all the snow is gone, i'll probably use the the 2x10's when i really need to get into the garage, otherwise i might just park on the road
yup im leaking h20 out t he back of my muffler from scraping on the constant. shit i need to raise myself up

My drive way is almost a 30* incline and it's off a very busy road.
No ramps for me..
I just back up on it.
It'll still rape on stock body.
Got stuck once.. open diff + low hanging exhaust + dumped car = stuck.
Not sure what I'm gonna do when I get a kit...
But I do know what I'm gonna do for exhaust.. SKRAIT PIPE DAT BISH!
i three wheel all the time going up my friend's driveway. You just have to go for it or you'll get stuck.lol

Now this product looks very promising. Also has a water pass-through so it wont make city officials mad.

Im in your boat bro. I just finished installing Aero on my s13 and had to raise the car up like 2" in the front just to get it to clear my driveway hump. The actual driveway is amazing its the curb-hump getting onto the driveway which is a real pita!!! The picture of the driveway on that add I just linked to is just like mine.
teachnically it's agianst the law but you could just pour some quick set concrete down and smooth it out haha

Is your driveway worse than this? Theres like 1.5 inches from my frame rails and my driveway. I just angle 45 degrees then once my DP is over the high point in the sidewalk, straighten out and smash up. Barely skims my stock exhaust on the way up. Like the lightest tap

I scraped my exhaust on everything when my car was dumped. i even got stuck on a speed bump once. I got tired of that so i raised it up like an inch in the back.

I use to live on a street that had a Pretty Serious Water Curb/street pavement Set up...so water would flow in the channels - that so happened to start at everyones driveway steps.
I bought some rocks from LOWES and layed them in front...very Smooth transistion from Street to Driveway w/ hardly any gangster sideways entrance.
If you could only see the Monster Speed bumps our GM put up @ our dealership. It takes me damn near 7mins just to get from the front to the back to park w/o crushing the D/P frame rails on my Nissan.
My Supra has a hard time clearing the HKS canister but thats about it.

an LSD or welded would fix that one tire fire when going up sideways =P. Theres really no way around it unless you cement your driveway or just make your car higher.
Holy shit at that driveway, imagine trying to work on your car on a hill like that.

On a downhill (or uphill, depending on how you look at it), then at least a 30* incline to enter driveway.

You obviously have scraped your way to a hole and condensation(?) is coming out from your exhaust pipes..
Get it patched.

03-25-2008, 12:00 AM
water is a byproduct of combustion. a lot of exhausts have a weep hole to let it out so it doesn't collect in the muffler. you might be ok. just inspect is closely, it could have been put there on purpose.

i also live on a really busy street with a TERRible driveway incline. i made some ramps a few years back that worked very well. i used a 4'x8' piece of plywood, cut it in half, then screwed cut pieces of 2x4 to it to act as supports so the ramps didnt break from the stress. they held up very well until my sister ran them over from the side and cracked them almost in half, after i had just pulled in and didnt have enough time to go put them away.
i dont park in my driveway a lot though, pretty much only when im doing something to the car. im going to make new ones soon, however this time i will use pressure treated wood so there is minimal warpage.

I did that for a few months with my last car. Got REALLY old really fast chugging around a 40lb piece of wood that broke constantly.
So I just ziptied my aero on so that it would flex out when scrapping off the driveway.
seriously considering those pre made ramps on the previous page though.

On my buddys house which was built in 1916 the drive way is super steep and narrow
We knocked out a section of curb about 2ft so we could barely get up and my 240 still scrapes the exhaust...
On roads under construction I catch manhole covers and have ripped a hole in it... Lame

After some researching I found them for about a hundred a piece shipped through this company.

They are 4ft wide pieces so I would need like 3 pieces to cover up my entire driveway. $300.00 for peace of mind is cheap compared to new muffs, front ends and paint work all the time.

OMG, they really sell houses with driveways that steep? Especially new houses? God damn...
When I was looking at getting a house with my roommate, the driveway was definitely the first thing we looked at, since we both have slammed S-chassis'. Right now we live in an apartment complex so we have a nice flat parking lot :)
His parent's house however was pretty horrendous. Nothing as extreme as those up there ^^^ We just built ramps out of treated particle board and took it at as much of an angle as we could. If they ended up staying in that house we were going to Quick-crete a ramp there to get over the hump with a drain hole going under it for run-off.

:eek3: Wow, can't believe that driveway meets building code out there (sympathy to the owner of that house) ...
I thought my driveway was bad too but I feel a little better now. :)
I always scrape a bit going up and down my driveway even at 45deg angles. A Kaaz LSD allowed me to go up the driveway at controlled speeds and scrape gently. I used to have to kind of gun it or risk getting stuck with one rear wheel in the "air". I've been stuck more than once in my own driveway and had to use various boards and such. The LSD cured that problem but I still scrape a little bit. :(

jesus christ that driveway is rediculous. and unsafe. It's just a busted ankle waiting to happen. I can't believe any city would approve those plans. It looks like no car would be able to enter that garage without high-centering. You literally have to own an SUV to park in your garage.

taken from the site: Fasteners to attach them together are included or you can fasten them to the concrete. They will take the rough bump out of the curb in your driveway. They will last for years street sweepers will not hurt them
and they're made from recycled rubber so i'd imagine they MIGHT weigh MAYBE 30 lbs a piece probably less

I don't have a steep angle, but I have a 2.5-3 inch lip, then a downslope, then another lip to jump up. Can't wiat for the subdivision to be finised. Thenn they well lay down the rest of the tar/concrete. I think those rams would be a good Idea(time to find out if we can ever do them)

I would probably just keep them inside for when my fastback needs to leave the garage which is rare these days. But they do make security bolts and I would use Drill in/Drop in Anchors with Security Bolts. You cant yank those out of the ground with out making a whole bunch of noise. You would need air tools of some sort. Trust me I know I work construction. That and I thankfully live in a nice guard gated neighborhood.

hahaha damn i know exactly what your sayin i have i 92 caprice wagon thats slammed i do the same thing..
my dad has a c5 vette thats SLAMMED and he sits about 2-3 inches off the ground so when we had our driveway repaved with regular concrete we just asked the guy smoothing it out on the bobcat to level the entrance of the driveway which he did alot more than we expected
so now none of our cars drag and our drive way has a very very slight incline..

You guys dont know the driveway have a secret opening when a button is press and it leads to the batcave.
To remove a speed bump just drive by with snowchains, eventually it will wear away. Or just complain, that how it got there in the first place.
