Did a search and couldnt find anything. anywhooo.

Working on the hatch and fixing the holes so i figured i would start to clean out the trunk and i noticed a shit load of dirt and sand and rocks in the sides of the trunk where the antena sits and the oem jack and the gas door is. im talking about on the bottom of the rear quarter. i vacumed out all the dirt and took out the two vent type plastic vents that are there. plus a rubber hose that looks like a drain. my question is do i need these vents and if not what do i seal it up with ? im assuming these are a good reason how rust starts and spreads fast. im also in the process of sealing my tail lights and taking out the sound deadning.

It drops pressure when you slam the trunk and doors.

They also equalize pressure on a hot summer day so your doors dont pop when you open them (or windows break, something like that, i cant rememer for sure). (I think, I know thats why some cars have vents in the door jambs)

its hard to close your doors if you seal them unless you always have your vent open or sunroof popped.
hard to close doors and trunk. you have to reallie slam them and if some one is in the car they will feel akward wen the door is slammed on them haha. but keeps the dirt out if you seal them

has anyone done anything to black them or modify them in a way where water and dirt wont get in and end up sitting there waiting to rust? i know thats why i have a slight rust spot on the passenger side . it was always wet and sandy after i drove my car in the rain.

thanks for the help

It will make your ears pop at highway speeds if you block those.

It should have a Rubber baffle that seals unless there is pressure.

There's a drain plug on the bottom as well, it's basically a cap for the splash guard screw retainer to thread into if you had them, you can pop it out and flush the rear wheel well that way. Both sides collect dirt though, not just the vent side.

yeah our work truck needs those. You cant close the door without rolling down the window. 07' chevy silverado
