Formula 1 Fans, Heikki Kovalainen question

I'm sure all of the f1 nuts on the board watched the race. I was stuck reading about it lap by lap on my phone at the vegas airport.

On to my question about Heikki Kovalainen, right before the last lap he overtook Fernando Alonso. Great pass didn't seem to be any problem. On the straight(Start/Finish) He slowed down enough for Alonso to go by.

First thing I thought was he missed a shift. Later it is said that he pushed the rev limiter or whatever button, while attempting to remove a tear off from his visor. I hoped they fixed that from last years debacle.

looks like that's exactly what he did. you can see the hand hit the wheel and then the car slows. i dunno. mclaren really has to redesign that. it's not in a good location. i think ferrari (massa?) brought up a good point that on their system, you can't engage the pit limiter above a certain gear and speed limit. makes sense to me.
