View Full Version : sr20 idle issues...

It just simply wont hold idle. I can rev it, but if I let off the gas it'll drop and die. Also, if I hold the gas on just enough to hold it at say, 2500 rpm it will die. The only way to keep it running is by constantly revving the motor. I have cleaned out the IACV, fucked with the CAS and there is definitely no vacuum leaks. It seems to be a fuel issue? After cleaning out the IACV it would idle properly for a good 10 seconds until it burned up all the carb cleaner, which seems to be a pretty good hint that it's a fuel issue. It also has brand new plugs.
Like I said, it revs fine, and when I rev it constantly it sounds great.
Any ideas?

do you have a BOV? if you pinch the line that goes to the IACV does the idle change or stay? And when you say messed with the CAS what did you do exactly? If you have a BOV make sure its not open at idle.

check the maf sensor clean it, check the harness and the connections. sometimes they can corrode making the conection distorted. also, check the connections to the IACV they also can become corroded as mine did. just take some sand paper and scrape the male connector tips and some electronic cleaner to clean it up. also since you're running the walbro 255 you are going to be constantly running rich. Your system pressure is far above what it should be. get a fpr and calibrate it properly, running rich at idle will cause all sorts of idle problems. i corrected mine with a safc. good luck

Haha, how did you know I was running a walbro?
I think my vac lines might not be done properly.
Theres 3 coming off the throttle body, 2 on top and 1 underneath. Theres also the one coming off the cold pipe. And the wastegate as well. I am currently not running a bov but plan to once the car is in good running order. (I'm not a complete asshole :hs:)
Is there any other vac lines? If so, where do they go?

I think that's it for the vacuum lines. I didn't "know" you were running a walbro but assumed since many people fail to mention it. It tend to be forgotten.
