Hey, I have a friend who has a fix it exhaust ticket, he wants to use my car and swap the plates to bring it in into the court (not state ref) to get it signed off. I know it's unsafe and he insist on telling me nothing will happen. I want to help him and all, as being a good friend, but is it really safe? I have asked other people around they it not worth it cause they will find out. I am just confuse how my friend insist that nothing will happen...

yeah I was going to let him at first, but I was like no way it's not that easy. Well I did offer to let him borrow my CAT, which is his main problem, but i guess he doesn't want to go though the hassle. -_-"

you live not too far from west LA, have your friend meet me at my storage, and have him bring $100 and i'll sell him my stock exhaust.

seriously
or you can tell him to kick rocks, he sounds like someone who you wanna keep around....

wtf your friend sucks.

it doesn't take more than an hour to swap out an exhaust system.

should be even shorter if you just need to swap out a test pipe for a cat...

hit him on the head and tell him to do it right.

I auctually just went to the courthouse today to pay off an exhaust ticket..didn't get it fixed just pled no contest and paid $190.I Didnt want to risk them finding more illegal stuff than they needed to...just tell your friend to man up and pay it off or go back to stock.

I would definately just install the stock exhaust. I would rather pay a small fee then the regular one and its really just too easy. That $150 or so fee can go towards more parts....why waste it on the popo.

tell your friend

"is it that hard to switch exhausts?"

You are 100% correct. This is highly illegal. Both of you can go to jail and pay heavy fines, and both of your cars can be confiscated.

he insist on telling me nothing will happen. I want to help him and all, as being a good friend, but is it really safe? I have asked other people around they it not worth it cause they will find out. I am just confuse how my friend insist that nothing will happen...

Your friend is a complete idiot. Ask him what happens when you go to jail and your car is impounded? What do you think he will do for you?

hell ya thats illegal..
I think the max penalty is like 5 years for that..
dont be a idiot..
that guy is willing to sell you a stock exhaust for 100.. do that, or tell your friend to lick your balls.. Is he going to pay for your storage on your car when you go to jail? hell no he wont. Thats the stupidest idea i have ever heard. thats like being on americas most wanted list and asking a cop to light your smoke..

Make sure the original dash VIN tags stay in the original cars. Mismatching dashboard VIN tag and chassis VIN tag = illegal.

drill out the rivits on both ends of the vin plate on the dash, then rivit it on to the new dash, be careful not to damage it!

Those VIN tags are really flimsy. Be careful when removing the old rivets.

man you friend is not really a friend, you can get in a lot of trouble if they find out, and its likely they will, when i went to get my exhaust checked they did check the plates then the vin on the dash, like every one here has said, just tell him to go get a stock exhaust back on really how hard is it, sorry to say but you friend is a :mrmeph: for trying to get you in trouble like that

Your friend is not your friend, you need to kick his ass.
Have him get a stock exhaust, or rent yours out to him for a pretty amount with a huge security deposit to make sure it gets back and in one piece.
This thread is not going to go anywhere in a productive manner, I will kill it off now.
