Ok, here's the long story:
So I've got this car:

And it had this bitchin 14-lb titanium JIC exhaust:

Everything was great, until the super-thin flange at the front of the exhaust cracked. Lucky for me, I had a friend who could weld titanium, and he happened to have a new, much thicker flange sitting on his desk. Wham, bam, thank-you Culver!

But we were stupid and didn't jig things up precisely enough before welding. The exhaust ended up very slightly off center. It didn't hit anything, but it kinda melted the bumper a little.

Ok, there was an enormous cone of flame shooting out the exhaust before it caught the bumper on fire, so it's not all because of the cock-assed flange.
So, when I put the new bumper on, I made this framus that pulled sideways on one of the hangers, yanking things back into place.
That was dumb.
The stress on the exhaust from effectively being bent sideways eventually overloaded some welds inside the resonator. The perforated core is now loose and rattling around inside the exhaust. There are no leaks, and the sound level is still quite reasonable if you have a cat, but it rattles at idle. Very annoying.
So to make this thing really work well, you need to find a guy who can weld titanium (I can recommend a guy if you're in Orange County) cut it open at the ends of the resonator, either weld the core back in or simply take it out, and then weld it back together. Remember to tack weld it while the exhaust is mounted in the car, otherwise you'll end up with it a misaligned exhaust again.
So why don't I just do that? Problem is, I run the car at Laguna Seca all the time, and they have this rediculous 92dB sound limit going up the hill between turns 5 and 6. Even stock EVOs have a hard time passing sound there, so I had to remove my 14lb rust-free titanium system and replace it with a 35lb steel exhaust that's going to rust out in a couple of years. All because a bunch of rich fucks moved next to a legendary race track and then decided they didn't like the sound.
So, back to the exhaust. It's not a show piece, as you've probably gathered. It's scratched, it has a small dent or two, and it rattles. Fix the rattle and hang it properly and it should never have another problem. The system is very intelligently designed, with hangers that weld to clamps wrapped around the exhaust, so the welds won't fatigue and rip the pipe open, and a slip-joint holding the muffler on, which also reduces stress. And, except for the rattle, it sounds really good.
Here's a little dent:

Here are the brilliant, hollow exhaust hangers and the clamp they attach to:

Here is the very nice slip-joint at the muffler (newer JICs have a flange here, which is more likely to crack. This is a very low-stress joint, which is why you see it on race exhausts.)

And here's my twiggy, 110-lb girlfriend holding the entire system with one hand:

So, $450 including ground shipping in the U.S. (it's light, so that's easy...)
