get mom to sew up some sweet patches
or take to an upholstery shop to make a new cover for it

Upholstrey shops are actually very good at what they do... dont leave it as a "last/bad option".

your best bet to get a new cover is to call Tee's USA (http://www.tees-usa.com/).

from my experience, you'd be better of calling them.

You can buy them no problem from Tee's usa, i have ordered them for a few customers. All you need is the part number of the japanese website for the new skin, it will take a while to get but you can get it. However, only available for buckets, with removable covers.
I justed washed mine in the washer, in cold water and hang dry. Do NOT dryclean, the heat will fade the color.
You can see on the foam where my jeans faded through the fabric to the foam, after I washed it. It was mint, I dont mean like clean, I mean factory condition again.

You can see little springs on the seat... its what hold the fabric on, its very easy to remove.
