When my s13 ka24 starts there is a clicking coming from the engine. I am not sure exactly where it is coming from though. When i give it gas it speeds up and slows down according to the rpm's. I dont know what it is and how to fix it. Please help.

ka? probably your top timing chain tensioner.

It is your Timing Chain Tensioner
remove it, Nissan recommanded as well.. weird
anyways, most likely after you remove it might still have the clicking sound this is how all KA will have later on.
will im not pro, but friend told me to replace timing chain because is getting old and start getiing lose. not sure if this going to fix it but i going to replace it soon or otherwise a bottom rebuild will make it go away.

Wait what?
True, the clicking is most likely coming from the upper timing chain guides (2 guides, one located on the top, and one located on the driver's side of the head near where the dizzy is) You have to remove the valve cover, dist., and upper front cover to get to both of them. Really easy job, should only take you about 30-60 mins for a novice.
But as far as the engine needing a timing chain job if it's still clicking after you take the guides out is whack. The fact that it is a timing chain, you shouldn't need to replace it unless it got damaged by something hitting it, like a broken guide. The chain is meant to last the life of the engine. It's not the chains that come loose, it's the tensioners. And you would have alot more problems than clicking if your tensioners wore out and you ended up with a skipping chain.
The clicking you hear on older engines is the valves needing adjustment. So the clicking is NOT coming from the block....but the HEAD. And really on high mileage KAs I wouldn't worry about it unless it REALLY LOUD, and if that's the case, you can find a replacement long block for about the same price as rebuilding your existing motor.
I would only rebuild if you've got power plans for the car.
Search the archives for a "how to" on removing the guides. It's really easy.
Good luck.

injectors can make a clicking noise too

Injectors are supposed to make noise, just like spark plugs click when they fire.
Sounds like the OP needs to figure out what are normal operating sounds and what aren't.

Also check exhaust manifold leak.

The metal bracket section that helps secure the Mani/CAT, near the firewall, just below the CAT, tends to crack. Once this bracket completely breaks, it will rattle/click like crazy.

I had that problem. It was the lifter on the clutch. It gets stuck when you turn on the car. So when your flywheel and crap spin it hits it. I just replaced the clutch and it solved my problem.
This is just my guessed though. I'm speaking from passed experience.

I know my exhaust manifold shield was only holding on by like 1 bolt and that thing was clicking constntly until I took a die grinder to it and pulled it off. A lot of things can click under that hood man, open it and rev it from under the hood to get a better idea of where it's coming from

injector and sparkplug clicks are usually drowned out by general noise of engine running. if he's hearing a clicking at idle and the when he revs it up it starts to go away its almost positively a timing chain tensioner. Which we all know is very common, but dont remove tensioner replace it removing will allow for damage to chain and possibly jumping cam gear teeth at high revs and then you know what happens after that:eek: .
