215s are fine for a 7" width.. You can go 225 and it should be fine. Try the tire calculator

225's will fit, but I'd go with 215's.

Yes, USE the tire size calculator. All the sizes you mentioned are too short. Seems to be a common theme here. This ain't a Civic, you can put some real meat in the fenders.
A 225/50-16 will fit on a 16x7 wheel just fine. In fact 7" is the recommended rim width for many 225/50-16 tires.

i might go with these... Dunlop SP A2... what do you guys think? any comments on these? my problem is i have to worry about wet traction.. and also snow traction.. i wouldnt be driving in the snow.. but i may have to for like 5 to 10 minutes from work or something...

The SP Sport A2 is a good M+S tire for a daily driver.
If you don't plan on driving in the snow I don't see why you'd bother with an M+S rated tire though. The dry performance difference between an M+S tire and a "summer" tire is huge.

My dunlop sp8000 225's on ROH 16.5 alloys. They work great except for in snow, thats why mine is in storage already.
