Has anyone ever put some nice LED lights in their license plate lighting?
One of my bulbs went out and I want to try it, my friend did it to his IS300 and it looks really good.
It's a relatively cheap mod and makes the car look "newer" and classier.
For all you that will give me shit about it's pointless, or take your car to the track :fruit:
Keep it to yourself.
Here's some links that might help.
I know the bulb part number is a very non descriptive 89 bulb for S13 all the S14 guys have it easy apparently with the cheaper wedge bulbs.
I've been trying to look for that bulb on this site
(http://superbrightleds.com/1157)
If any of you could direct me to another site that carries the bulb, let me know. Thanks!

I’m kind of happy with my led results.
I think the WLED-x5 LED Wedge Bulbs superbrightleds.com has would of worked better.
Well i was extremely bored so here’s some super fresh pics I just took right now. There a little blurry sorry.

They're the BA15s bulbs.

I've done this on mine. I was actually inspired by the GS. Came out pretty good imo. I forgot to take before pics tho... But all in all its like J-Konnexion's give or take on the brightness

Isnt there LED wedge bulbs available in the states now? We got them all over here in JP but theyre a pretty penny for any generic set ($25 ish). Hell theres even a set that has 4 different color LEDs on it and it transitions to every 4 colors...

i put a LED foglight up in there.
but that was only because i figured cutting a hole in an aero bumper would be the same amount of work for the stock assemblies or the fog light.
its pretty bright, i think it looks nice.
wouldn't make much sense if you're running stock bumper though.

They make liscence plate bolts with LED bulbs in them.
Thats what I plan on getting to avoid the pain of putting the bulb assembly in aero and shit.

changed mine out like a year and half ago.
194 wedge style bulb from Stewart Warner.
on s14, you can do front corner lights as well. really looks good with HID headlights instead of crappy normal "white" bulbs

AutoZone sells like a 2 pack of 194/168 (whatever one it is) style LED bulbs for like 15-17 bucks. it's in the light bulbs section. They at least had them in my store before I quit working there which was like on Thursday lol.

I just put some LEDs in my S14 on my license plate. I'm not sure which ones, but he got them from superbrightleds.com and it has 5 leds in one. It came out looking really nice.

Haha you don't have to get the most expensive ones.
Either one of these should be more than enough.

hmm i was a lil confused about those since the wiring comes out through the bolt.. i guess just drill a extra set of holes in the license plate and wire them up somehow from behind

I didn't edit my post for you :gives:
I edited it because I wanted to find stuff for MY car, I don't have an S14 so I don't give a shit about the wedge bulbs you get to play around with.
Go troll around in someone else's thread before you get pinked.

That's cool and all, but it makes it much easier for others to spot your license plate such as cops, angry pedestrians, etc. God forbid you take your car up to 4k in a strange neighborhood and have the cops knocking on your door because your ass got reported for a loug exhaust. I dunno. Maybe its just paranoia, or maybe its just me. I use 192 bulbs. $1 each. They are a lower wattage than 194s. Least amount of legal light possible.

some of us just dont wanan get pulled over period, having a visible plate is not always a bad thing. stop revving at 4k in neighborhoods. What the hell are u doin at 4k anyways in a residential?

1 is more than plenty just get a 50ohm 1/2 watt resistor otherwise itll burnout in a matter of hours from the overdraw

Please check with your local laws before getting a ticket. Most states require white light so that the plate is visible.

Yea, plate needs to be visable.
I need to do something soon, put my aero on and I don't have a light lighting the plate any more.

do you have the oem license plate bulb holder? its pretty easy to fab these leds onto it to make it pnp

I use zip ties. The plate light shakes when going over bumps, but I don't care. Makes it harder to see my plates :naughty:

Yea, I have the light holder still, but transfering it from one bumper to the other is a pain.
would be nice to find a light bar that goes between the bolts on the plate, or hell I might pick up those light bolts. See how it goes.

Fuck it, just ordered these
http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/tagboltz850.jpg
I wanted some with bright white LED, the DEI ones look yellowish.
We shall see, hopefully these work well, and I won't have to fuck with the liscence plate lighting when switching bumpers.

haha true now u just gotta wire it in, i recommend disconnecting the plug from the holder and wire it into the wires on the plug of the holder... than discard the pos holder
if this was retarded pls ignore
