View Full Version : A question for N/A 240 woners

I am not interested in a sr swap or getting a turbo, which seems the best way to go for mayor hp. Anyway my question is for those who built and tune their ka24, what do you run in the 1/4 mile?

My question to you is why didn't you search.

10-31-2002, 06:46 PM
I didn't search because most of the people who get good times in the 1/4 mile have either a sr or a turbo. Do you have a mx-6 and not a 240sx? If so I didn't want a reply from you.

OUCH!!!!
do you mean the ka24e or ka24de, because i dont believe there are many out there that tune the 24e and the few that try to tune the de i think the best times are somewhere in the mid to high 15's

::not tryign to be a post whore::
Wow theer stil bil..LOL.. go to the website paeco.com, and order there catalog (the website list nothing) They have 4 different stages for ka24e, the stages go
Stage 1 - 160 hp
Stage 2 - 232 hp
Stage 3 - 270 hp
Stage 4 - 298 hp
Each stage means you get more work done to the motor.
They re-sleeve, bore, mill, etc..
The rep person told me stage 4 is race, takes race gas and needs to be re-tuned almost ever 2 weeks, but the stages 1-3 can be ran on pump gas.. I'm tired of typing so if you want more info just ask and i will type some more

Stage 1- $4200
Stage 2- $4800
Stage 3- $5800
Stage 4- $7800
And to correct the HP for each stage its:
Stage 1- 192 hp
Stage 2- 232 hp
Stage 3- 268 hp
Stage 4- 298 hp
I think in the new new catalog the prices went up $200 dollars, i ain't sure yet..
This place sells everything from motors, to carb setups for ka24e's to roll cages for our cars...

ok, please give some 1/4 mi times. ka24de or ka24e. the sohc has some disadvantage, but i don't think the different is that big when tuning it.
whateverjames, I saw your car way before i joined zilvia. what do you run in the 1/4 mile? I haven't check your page in a long time.

if we're talking about NA KA's, how the hell is the engine with more aftermarket support and more race use at a disadvantage??
the difference in tuning is large considering the advantage that the SOHC engine has.

man..if ur not sure dont post, there are more 24e NA setups than DE..there were pics on here with individual throttle bodies for the 24e and a carb 24e i believe.
ppl do NA setups on 24e more than DEs..and when i say NA i mean those crazy drag ones..not no I/H/E/C stuff

Well, someone a few weeks ago claimed to have run a mid-14 with a bone stock KA. That was an extremely contraversial(sp?) topic. I know Evil S14 ran a 15.3 with an apex dual. He says he consistently runs mid 15's.

Most of the serious N/A KA setups seem to be built for road racing, so you're not going to see many 1/4 mile times. That's the one arena where I see an N/A engine at an advantage; for one, it'll allow the car to play in some more competitive classes (engine swaps and turbo kits put it in the league of tube frame monsters) and the power delivery would be smoother and more predictable.
It's one route I've considered for my car since the KA24E is definitely at the advantage here.

Ace, when I say the sohc is in disadvantage I mean for street performance, not race application only.
AKADriver got my point

I ran a
[email protected] in my 24E with just intake and exhaust. I only really know of one sohc that is really "built" and that was Drifta240's. He had a fully built bottom end and the usual bolt ons, I think he said he ran a
[email protected], or something close to. I'm about to start building my sohc due to the fact that I threw a rod a couple of weeks ago. It's not going to be anything special though.

I would tune a N/A car as opposed to turbo for a couple of main reasons. Not as many cmplications, every turbo car that I have helped tune has required hours and hours of tuning on the dyno to get a good curve, and good numbers. The other reason is instant power, not having to wait for the turbo to spool. The other way I would consider is N20. It's safe if you do it right, and has instant power.

I have I/H/E and suspension upgrade, but I've never been to the track, (been wanting to go) I have some money, and i'm thinking about getting ecu, maybe flywheel and clutch.
that's why I wanted to know about those 1/4 mi times.

Apparently a lighter flywheel and electric fans can have a pronounced effect on the KA's character and may end up being moved up in my mod list. For now though a short shifter and Z brakes are at the top.

man u act like NA sucks or something
mayb he wants to go a diff route besides doing wat everybody else is doing..slapping on a turbo
i would definately go NA on my DE but most ppl do it for their 24E..and i dont wanna go to SOHC
you can gain juss as much respect with a NA setup as u can with a turbo
NA 240s are more rare..reason to do one
