Make you RS*R exhaust louder for less than $6

This was a cool thing I found out, It might work for other 3in exhausts too

I noticed on a trackday when we were video tapin our runs, I had the quietest exhaust out there.
I have an RS*R GTII, Dont get me wrong I love the deep tone it has, but when Im drivin or rippin through grears I love to hear that Turbo Spool, and hear that WHOP,WHOP as Im featherin the Gas lol.

Anyway... I was thinking of ways to make it louder without changing my exaust or cuttin and welding, Cuz I like the way the RS*R looks.

So I was at O'Reilly's and saw they had a 3in pipe for less than $5, so picked it up thinking I'll weld up a new back half and just swapp it out on track days.

So I'm gonna throw it in the hatch and for shits and giggle's hmmm I wonder if it will fit?

I'll be damned the 3in pipe sildes snug right in the canister, and it wont vibrate out or nothin.

Anyway sorry for the long ass story heres some pics

the pipe is long enough to cover the entire inside of the fiberglass in the canister perfectly

Hmm I may have to try that. I love my RS*R but was thinking about buying a Buddy Club Spec 2 so you could actually hear the car.

He had another thread stating he just moved back from Japan. He tore his entire sr down and shipped it back in 60 lb boxes. That car is the shell he picked up to put his drivetrain into.

I tried it, It sounds like ass, it resonates under the chassis and sounds like a honda fart

no offense but I thought the main reason to get an rsr exhaust was because it was quieter? do you have a sound clip to see if it sounds better at least?

dude.. i tryed that shit with my 3inch and damn.. that shit would not go in for nothing.. it went in deep enough for me not to be able to not take it back out.. i end up cutting the muffler off and just putting a str8 pipe.. sucks but good thing it was a knock off exhaust.. i guess this should be a warning for some people who is going to try it on a different exhaust.. and yes i love the turbo spool sound also =]

With the RSR it dosent vibrate, its fits tight inside, (No Homo)lol

I did the same thing on my blitz...exhaust was too low so took alot of beating in the 6 yrs ive had it. Muffler broke and started rattling. Stuck a 3" pipe in there and actually made the exhaust quieter in my case. Then after that, I took the resonator off it and put a straight pipe.

1. You said you were on a track with your track car. Why would you add weight to get a louder exhaust note? Just bend a new axle back section or buy a new exhaust. This is as dumb as a giant stereo in a track car.

2. If you were on track infront if me and your ghetto exhaust pipe fell out on the track infront of me and went through my intercooler, I would be less than pleased. I'd probably ask you to pay for my damages. And then I would throw 3 inch pipes at your car.

this is just a Shits n Giggle thing for anyone who is tired of the same old exhaust sound and wanna change it in 5 seconds with out taking 10 mins to jack up the car changing the exhaust.

1. the pipe adds 1 lb if not 2lb so it really doesnt make any differnce at all. this is My DD as well as my track drift car too. why would you spend another 300-500 bucks on a new exhaust when a 6 dollar pipe does the exact same thing

2. the pipe will not fall out. the pipe wedges inside the canister and WILL NOT come out until you pull it out

well an 1/16 of an inch Mic is not gonna chatch the sound and decible effect as your ear would in person.

It's compared to almost the exact same sound as a Buddy Club II exhaust.

lol at adding weight, that pipe cant weigh more than a pound. losing a pound or two would make up for it. lol. no biggie. :)

Just listened to the clips. It sounds like.... a car with a really long downpipe. I must be old, I like my 95dB 5zigen exhaust. I guess if you like it, do it. It doesn't add much weight. I'd just be worried about that thing rattling loose and falling out on track.

Not a bad idea, but as good as RSR exhausts are, surely you could sell it for enough to just get a really loud exhaust.
Like a straight pipe with Dart Izumi tips or something.

I'm all for loudness, we don't all live in Cali and have to worry about getting pulled for everything. People in places like NC can get away with murder for the most part.
But the way I see it, you might as well go for the gusto and run an open pipe that is loud enough to wilt flowers and break glass if you're going to be obnoxious.

To the people who say they would be worried about it coming out or it wouldnt pass tech. The events we go to are in a huge lot, about 6 football fields. There isnt much as far as tech is concerned either. If you dont want to do tandem you dont have to. And we would all be able to see a big pipe on the middle of the course. But I mean with the crap roads around here if the thing was going to come out it would have already.

Hearing it in person I think it sounds much much better with the pipe in. But then again I want to make peoples ears bleed when I pass by.

there's also a lil hole at the end of the exhaust for the silencer. u just put a screw threw that and a bolt on the other side just incase you were scared of it slipping past.
