i was just wondering if the only way that i can adjust my idle is with the IACV and the screw on my ECU? i have my timing set ay 15 advanced and my idle is very sloppy and it keeps hopping around

You can only adjust the idle at the IACV and make sure that the TPS is unplugged.

I'm pretty sure the screw on the ecu is for the trouble code flashes...

ok, to set the idle, unplug the tps sensor, adjust the throttle body screw-loosen it so that the throttle plate is completely shut then tighten the screw so that it "just" touches the throttle plate lever..then tighten the screw "one" and only "one" full turn. no more!! then plug in the tps sensor and adjust the iacv to your desire. have fun!!

if you are having rough idle, could be because your iacv is dirty. might wanna turn your car on and have someone rev it while someone sprays carb cleaner into the IACV, it'll help the idle out a bunch. helped me out.

What motor do you have? Is the timing where it is suppose to be?
Set your timing and Idle speed using the FSM method. Same for the IACV.

i have an sr20det, i just installed a new IACV, and it did help out a little, but its still kinda wierd, when im adjusting the idle on my IACV do i have to unplug my TPS??? thanks to everyone thats helping!

You cannot adjust your idle while the car is running if your TPS sensor is plugged in. The ecu will automatically adjust the idle for you so you need to unplugged it.

see people are telling me 2 different things, some people say to unplug the TPS when im adjusting the IACV and some say leave it plugged in

Unplug the TPS.
Adjust the actual throttle screw, on the throttle body.
Then adjust the IACV.
The first two steps are key.

i have another question aside ofthe idle stuff, i removed my charcoal canister (the little canister that has the 2 vac. hoses ran to it and the hard line) . On my throttle body i plugged the bottom nipple and now what should i do with the hard line? just leave it there?

why not just adjust the idle valve?

anyone know about the charcoal canister?

Search, kiddo. Just leave the hardline alone - it's an evap for the gas tank. You can cut it further back, under the car if you want, but it's probably not a good idea to plug it.

do you plug in the tps while the car is still on or do you kill the engine then plug and adjust after restart?

supposed to be 15 degrees to the right from top dead center so like second mark from the right. thats how i set mine. runs perfect.

when i adjusted my throttle body the car was on. I dont think it matters whether it's on or off. as for "jakethesnake" i think that when you let off on the throttle your car runs extra rich. I've had that same problem with mine and I adjusted my SAFC to run leaner at idle/when i come off the throttle. Now it doesn't bogg down anymore.

You are venting into the atmosphere.. so your motor will "bog" because it is running pig rich. Covered a million times before. This is the biggest issue with turbo cars venting to atmosphere. Only way to get around it is to recirc the bov back into the intake, but then your car won't sound jdm cool haha. :wtc:
Dilemma.

I am running recirc. the ecu is just so fucked up from all the mods that it probably can't compensate correctly or its outside of its limits.
