hey guys i just thought i would post this up for anyone wanting a carbon fiber drive shaft. i figured that you could get the main shaft then have the have the other parts connected to the u joints. You just order by length. the length is measured from center to center of u joint holes. I am not sure what size one would use for the 240sx but i have seen them from 35 to 45 inches long.. there should be a size that will work. http://www.behrents.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=BPW&Product_Code=TRI31310&Attributes=Yes&Quantity=1

I'd rather have aluminum there
^^ i second that..carbonfiber driveshaft=too much dam money! aluminum is almost as light and about 400 cheaper.
i cant member the website. but there is a place that sells carbon driveshafts for the s13 and s14.
their phone number is 1-714-895-5544

the load on carbon at a shafts rate on the road without consistent torque measures throughout high rates on Stateside streets would emolish such a unique piece as this, specific cars such as : rotary complete track units are sometimes equipped with a carbon shaft. take a look at this for reference.

I would love to have one with a full set of Goodyears. .. .

why? its a good quality, VERY light piece. I'm +1 for one on the proper car, even if a FC/S/CP chassis.

i think the z driveshaft is carbon composite, not carbon fiber...

FORD TRUCKS ROCK CARBON SHAFTS FROM FACTORY...i SEEN A DIESEL TRUCK ONE OF MY OLD CONST BUDDIES HAD...CARBON FIBER SHAFT.
PRETTY SLICK...
i think the z driveshaft is carbon composite, not carbon fiber...
I think you don't know what the word "composite" means.

The carbon shaft is for safety measures usually. Nissan doesn't want an aluminum drive shaft to be shoved up your ass so they made it out of carbon because on impact it shatters.

I've seen a video of that happening at a strip one time. Shitty quality driveshaft + lots of power + launch = driveshaft snapping and coming through the transmission tunnel.

Taken from ACPT's website:
"Despite safety hardware like shaft hoops and covers, a broken metal driveshaft can become a flailing bludgeon that beats up everything in its' path; severe injuries to the driver, extreme damage to the car, and even vaulting the car into the air can be the result. Carbon fiber minimizes these dire consequences.
Carbon fiber driveshafts are built for strength primarily to transfer torque and can be broken with a hard blow from the side. The result is that when a u-joint or yoke fails the carbon fiber composite begins to disintegrate when it contacts the chassis. As the composite comes apart, the shaft simply turns into a bunch of loose carbon fibers. much like the end of a broom . In fact, in composite technology this failsafe state is called "brooming". Instead of tearing up the driver and shredding the chassis, the carbon fiber broom will probably just polish dirt and paint off the chassis.
Racers race to go fast, not to cheat death and disability. ACPT is very proud of the fact that our driveshafts have helped to prevent serious injury on several teams, like Dick Anderson Racing. "I have two talented, young drivers to protect," Dick Anderson explains. "Both have narrowly escaped serious injury when metal shafts broke and penetrated their cars. Last season, a bracket came loose, destroyed the torque arm and broke the ACPT shaft in two; but it never came into the car. It "broomed", just as they said it would, and no one was hurt."

And yes...350Z's all come with carbon driveshafts...it was even in a Best Motoring video.

Interesting, i do like the safety POV. And that trash truck is pretty damn impressive, because that is NOT for safety. CF has long been valued for its unique ability to ferret out unwanted vibrations that cannot be fixed otherwise.

Before i forget:
I asked my mechanic about this, he says that they are aluminum driveshafts but sleeved carbon composite to control noise and resonance. Which does make sense to me.
