Alright guys so I got tired of the pinging or marble sound coming from my valve cover so I decided to tackle the valve guide removal. I took the top two off and put everything back together. I proceeded to start it up and it started up( after I corrected the timing of course). Now I'm hearing a steady pinging instead of the pinging that varied as I gave it gas that I had when the chain had the guides on. I'm thinking maybe the tensioner might be bad and the chain is either slapping it or the bottom guides. Anyone have any experience with this? any suggestion?
oh here are some pics of the guides...
