hey guys.
With my current dd it has the tpms. TPMS is a abreviated term for
Tire Pressure Monitoring System for those that did not know.
yesterday my light on dash came on. So i inspected my tires and found a dam nail. kinda sucks that i picked up a nail, but the system told me their was a problem, so i could plug the tire, take it in have it dismounted, patched, and put back on the rim. Could have saved me the cost of a new tire. (well 4. its a evo!) I was pretty impressed about the whole thing.

i know there are downfalls to the system. I know there are aftermarket kits i could buy that would let me put this in my s14. But is anyone running the system?

Why cant you just go out and press the pressure gauge on the valve stem. Sometimes technology just isn't the answer to everything.

I do to that anyway. But when your driving and you pick up a nail while your driving, your tire leaks.. then you run w/ low air pressure. This is not good on your tires. Especially when you have low profile tires. In UTAH, the whether changes so much its rediculous. There is kinda a saying here.. If you dont like the whether, wait 5 min. it will change.

It is possible to check your pressure in the morning, pick up a nail on the way to work, have your tire blow out before you get to work. RARE, but possible. TPMS lets the operator of the vehicle know any time there is a pressure increase, or decrease outside of normal peramiters. On some aftermarket kits, you can adjust the peramiters you want to be within and the light will kick on if it goes outside those.. IN MY OPINION, ITS WORTH the 400 bucks. but you can buy cheap kits for like 200+.

My tC has TPMS, it sucks because if you don't have the sensors inside the wheels you put on, it throws on a low air pressure light on my cluster. So, when I have my 15's on with snow tires, that light is always on. You can switch the sensors over to the other wheels, but that would involve a lot of tire dimounting/ remounting. IMO, this wouldn't be worthwhile on a 240. Most 240 owners I know switch wheels and tires almost daily. I like it on my daily though, as long as the sensors are there.
