ok guys i posted before and still havent got the car right yet. i now have the n60 maf and the car still revs to 2500or 3000 and thats it. i pulled the plugs and found that #3 and#6 were wet with fuel and still clean, all the rest are slightly black. i pulled the coil plugs on those 2 while it was idling and there was little to no difference in idle. so what do you guys think? i HAVE searched and cant find any details on how to ck coil packs. pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help! oh yea its a s13 with, duh rb20, fmic and walbro 255, d.p. and exhaust.

Check for a boost leak. It sounds like you have one.

no leaks, and why would that have anything to do with cylinders 3 and 6 not firing?????

I glanced over it. When I had a huge boost leak the car idled like crap and wouldn't rev past 3k. If you want to check to see if the coils are dead you can just switch them around. Move 3 to 1 and ect. If thats not it then might be the ignitor. Did you try and search on Nico?, 240sx forums or Racebread?

They are always some up for sale in the RB forsale section. If you want new coil pack I think it's the 300zx #1 and #2 can be used. or spend the big bucks on the Splitfire set.

I have a similar issue with my SR, when I pulled one of the coil packs on my 2nd cylinder, it made no difference and I couldn't even rev that great. My issue ended up being that I shorted my ECU. I got another working ECU, and it ran smooth.

I would suggest getting a noid light and putting them on those 2 injectors that didn't make a difference and see if their opening up, or check that their getting the proper signal from the ECU, to the injectors.

Sorry to interupt but that is a clean ass s13 in your sig. Very nice.

Check continuity between pins #1&2 on the coilpacks, it should come up .8-.11, but its not a sure bet b/c they can still read good but be bad. They should have a milky white color to them, if they are brownish yellow looking then they are definitely on there last leg.

You can get new replacement of the 1&2 cylinders of a q45, similar years.

Also sounds like a boost leak as far as the idle goes.

I like your sig, sometimes I forget that when I'm out there and get myself all worked up about drifting.

the car only revving to 2500 or 3000 is an indication that something is wrong with the MAF. so its either the MAF, the wiring or the ECU. also, the MAF wiring is very sensitive. I ran into a similar problem and had to replace the strands of shielded cable going to the MAF to fix the problem.

ok i replaced the coils on 3 and 6, got new bcpr7es plugs and the car fired right up and idles great. now the idle is a little high but definately is running better than before. . . still wont rev past 2500 or 3000. no leaks and i can totally UNPLUG the maf wires and it makes NO difference so i now know its all the maf. what can i do? if it makes no difference if it is plugged in or not then where do i look now?

wow thanks! that smartass comment helped me and others having these problems ALOT, could someone please copy this link so this genious could get the credit he deserves! AAAAAANNNNYWAY, i figured it out. turns out the black goes to white , who woulda thought? now it revs great and is mildly driveable but it does backfire when revved heavily, n60 maf or not having a nismo fpr? what do you guys think? one more time. . is the n60 a replacement for the stock rb maf or do i need the rb maf?

How about that, you tried to snub me with your comment, but it ended up being your wiring.

I could have sworn the comment before you asked, WHAT IS WRONG?

And the N60 is not a direct replacement for the RB, that is why it runs like poop. You need the ecu chipped for that maf, an air flow meter converter or maybe the correct air flow meter.

The RB maf should be a N60 variation. what color is the sticker on the N60 you have? green? purple? Also pull the code from the ecu if the light works on it.

it has the purple label.

Mine uses the green labled N60 maf. My friends RB25 didn't come with a maf and I gave him my extra RB20 maf and his car worked fine. Did u get a chance to pull the codes of the ecu yet?

no, not yet. and how do i do that?

key to on get ecu turn screw on ECU the other way and look at the flashing red light. it will read slow flashes and fast flashes. The slow are single digit and the fast are the 2nd digit for the code. So 1 slow flash and 2 fast flashes would be code 12. I forget the site that has the trouble code info tho.

ok got the safc installed! now can anyone give me the in/out settings and maybe some additional hints/tips to get this thing right till i can get it tuned. it has a fmic, 3" dp and exhaust n60 maf and a 255 walbro. now i also have a z32 maf to put on if necessary. but at the moment its of course runnin rich and backfiring @ high rpm's. oh i also have a nismo fpr to install this week.
