So I tooki my first long trip in the car this weekend. Drove it three hours to the folks place. As I was gassing up to leave, the car died. I managed to get a boost which fixed everything and on my way I went... About 2 hours into the drive my car began to stall out... it was as thought the batt was dead again... but as the car was coasting, the lights came back on and the car sprung to life again.

About 15 min from my folks place... it died again... but this time didnt srping back to life. I ended up having to calla friend out there and got it boosted again (the batt. never had enough power to start the car) and had to boost it three times before getting home. As I was driving I would watch my apexi unit (which I had measuring Voltage) and I could see it go from 11-10-9 all the way to 8.5V at which point the car would stall out. As the power would go really low, the int. lights, tail lights, and apexi units would loose power and I would only have my headlights...

So today I went and got the battery recharged and placed it back in... but now the int lights and tail lights dont work. It seems the whole gauge cluster doesnt work either The tach and speedo stay at zero all the time. I took the car for a quick spin and sunndenly everything got power again and so I checked to see if it would stay that way by restarting the car.... well it didnt. I dont know what happened to get it all going again... I need to get this fixed so I can make the 3 hours trip home... Any idea's of what it could be?? Would this be my alternator?

Thanks for any help!

Bingo. Or just a loose connection somewhere between it and the battery.

Ya, realized I posted this in the wrong section. But does the alternator explain the gauge cluster?

yes, its your alternator. your headlamps/ tail/lamps come on? if no, then yeah. go get a Nissan Quest Alti (same year model). .. .you'll be happy 4 years from now!, if your primary alt. plug is loose at all, the car will bog and bog as though the juice is being pumped through a clogged Heart artery.

Move Thread!

(lol. I've always wanted to say that!)

But yup. best regards.
