For sale is a GTiR T28 with S14 compressor housing. S14 compressor housing is often used by the FWD SR guys to let this turbo breathe better up top. FWD guys often put out 350whp with S14 compressor upgrade. But dont forget, thats with FULL BOLT ONS (cams, tuning... etc), and they have a bit less drivetrain loss than us RWD guys.

Turbo was rebuilt about 5000 miles ago. Comes with Inlet and Outlet pipes for direct drop into a RWD SR / KA. Also comes with a S14 adjustable wastegate preset at 8psi.

Turbo is in great condition.

$430

So just to clarify, the S14 compressor housing is bigger then the stock GTi-R housing?

I'm waiting to sell some stuff, I think I'll buy this when I sell that stuff.

sunnys14

S14 t28 uses a T04b compressor housing

GTiR t28 uses a T3 compressor housing

S14 compressor housing is bigger than the GTiR housing but they share the same compressor wheel

This turbo comes with the elbows. Its direct bolt on to your RWD SR. Its been clocked already to fit RWD.

What size injectors would you need to go along with this turbo? Also what kinda of power could you expect? Around 300whp?

GSXRJJordan
03-14-2008, 06:35 PM
Yes, this is a step up on the S14-non-BB/S14 BB/S15 non-Spec R turbos, but only by a little bit. It's a journal bearing turbo, but with a more aggressive size to hit ~300whp at ~18lbs with supporting mods (might need mild cams too).

Injector size/power/etc are a function of boost. Run on 10psi or so, you can run it on stock MAF/injectors. After that you should go with some 480/550s and a Z32 MAF, and some engine management.

Gti-R T28 uses the same compressor wheel as the S14/S15 BB T28 (spec-R) but uses a much bigger turbine wheel and housing than the S14/S15 BB T28 (spec-R)also.

Where were you last week??? I couldnt find one of these, so I broke down and bought an S15-R for $800 bucks. This would have been perfect.

sunnys14
03-14-2008, 09:52 PM
Some idiot left this "350whp? You must be joking."

Read what I said up top, thats FWD guys making 350whp not RWD. Their drivetrain loss is like 15% compared to 20ish RWD.

Heres a FWD 325whp @ only 16psi:

How's this turbo compare to a T3/T04E 50 trim, .63 exhaust side?

sunnys14
03-15-2008, 12:19 AM
a 50 trim pushes alot more power than this T28

i think a 50 trim is rated 430ish

SoguRacing
03-15-2008, 12:57 AM
yea but there would be a compromise between spool time and hp numbers. quick spool = fun :)

sunnys14
03-15-2008, 01:03 AM
T28 would spool a little quicker but not by much.

On the T28 I can hit 8psi as early as 2700rpm

On my t3/t4 57 trim .63AR I hit 8psi by about 3200rpm

SoguRacing
03-15-2008, 01:24 AM
thats what i was referring too. if i have money after the apexi garage sale i'll probably buy it if you come down on price a bit. thumbs up

I'm pretty interested, but i'm ignorant to what I would need to complete the upgrade. If i had 555injectors, z32 maf, this turbo, and what emg would I need?

SHIFT_*grind*
03-15-2008, 07:51 PM
You'd need an ECU tune, from Enthalpy or the like.

Good price :)

Your question was answered before you posted it.

This turbo won't spool as quick, but it will hit harder on the top end.

I can't believe this didn't sell yet! I just upgraded from my stock t25 to the GTi-R w/S14 compressor housing on my SE-R. My car is *much* faster at only 10psi on the t28 compared to the 14psi i ran on the t25. I have over $600 in my turbo, this one is a smokin deal.

Could this be run on a stock sr20 without upgrading injectors etc at a reasonable level boost? Like 10psi or near stock t25 level? If that is possible and I do it what would there be any noticeable gain?

sunnys14
03-19-2008, 01:07 AM
wastegate is set at 8psi. i think its the equivelent to running a t25 @ 12psi.

I run mine on a mostly stock SR20 (FMIC, exhaust, Walbro pump, stock injectors/MAF/tune) at 10 psi via an HKS actuator. No problems yet.

is it possible to get gtir t28 to run at 8 psi without having to get ecu tuned and without z32 maf? i dont mind getting 550cc injectors though. one last thing, this might sound dumb, would this turbo fit t25/t28 turbo manifold? excuse my n00bness.

You should be able to run the GTiR T28 at 10 psi on the factory ECU, MAF and injectors just fine. If you want to run more than what the factory tune will allow, then get an SAFC and some bigger injectors. The stock MAF will be just fine, but you can get a Z32 one if you want as the SAFC can adjust for that. And yes, it will bolt to the stock manifold. Both use a t3 exhaust inlet flange.
