I recently tried to install my 17x8 (245/45/17) Mustang Cobra wheels, when to my surprise they rub against my coilovers in the front. I have seen these wheels installed on other s14's before, although unsure of fitment with coilovers installed. It seems a spacer is the only remedy to the situation, which I was trying to avoid. If anyone has offset information on these wheels, or know of someone with helpful information, I would greatly aprreciate it. Thank you

whats the offset?
how bad do they rub?
if they are barely touching the coil over, try loosening the two bolts holding the coilover to the spindle and pulling outwards.
if that doesn't help, just get spacers, you have plenty of room outwards if the wheel is a 8j and its hitting coil over.

Domestics = wheels sunken worse than s14 stockers.

Did you look if they stamped the offset on the wheel?

why'd u get the 8j's from the mustang.?
the 9's fit ok.
i'd prefer the 10.5's

why get OEM wheels off a yanktank anyway?

Because were in yankerville and they are cheap track spares.
I think the stock 8" wheels were like 30 or 35 offset. Won't work. Most people rocking the mustang wheels go for OE wheels with the 9" or higher widths with the lower offset thats why they dont have any problem.

I got a good deal on them, and they are great for track days. What year Cobra had the 17x9 and what offset are they. I have heard that on a 9" wheel, +20 is the minimum offset to clear the front. If I knew the exact offset I could get a better idea of what spacer I need, I want as small of a spacer as possible. I probably could put a smaller tire on there to clear, but that stretched shit looks rediculous.

LOL
no need to fret.
what are you gonna do?
stretch a 185/40 on them?
assuming they are in fact +35 like somebody mentioned earlier, a 15 mm should suffice...and best of all...you can keep your wheels all sunk!

Im not 100% sure but I don't think any of the OEM factory cobra wheels are lower than +30. An aftermarket set of cobras usually run x 9 +24.
Post a pic of which mustang wheels you picked up.
I had a set of these on my old S13 and it cleared the front coilovers by about 5mm.

so many people make cobra replicas that unless it is on the wheel he may not know who made them or there offset

some years have a very high offset, I think its the newer like 2006+ that are in the 40's or higher and will be sunken and may rub.
also what coilovers are you running? some coilovers reduce your room in the wheel well because the spring perch/collar is fatter than the stock strut body under the stock spring, so you can lose up to 3/4inch of clearance just by switching to coilovers.
why so much hate on the mustang wheels, I mean I dont like them because theyre heavy unless theyre the real deal oem forged cobra-R forged 17x9 wheels, but hey theyre damn cheap and its great to fit a 17x9's and even a 17x10.5 out back on an S14 for some grip driving or track schools.

I have Apexi EXv coilovers. I was looking at the equipment specifications of a 1995 Mustang Cobra R, and it said that they had 17x8 wheels with 245/45/17 tires, which is what I have. As far as I know they are true OEM. I guess my ony option is a spacer, until I step up and buy wheels tailored to my car exactly. My car is nearly complete, and I don't want this to hold me up anymore.

I have 17x9 weapons i picked up for cheap like you got yours. mine are +27 and i had to run a 5/16 spacer up front to clear RS*R Isports. no big deal.cheap tires + spacers till you can get better ones.
the only guy i have sen runing them was rocking small spacers up front.

is it the tires that rub or is it the rim lip that rubs?
those are tall and fat tires...

I didn't have coils though since it was my daily driver....
