I have not been around here long but I get on here every chance I can find the free time to do so over here (Afghanistan). I know I can search for a thread like this and I apologize ahead of time but overseas I don't have the time to sit down and skim through threads for hours. I would like to because I love researching and learning new things on my platform of choice but we have a 30 minute time limit on phones and computers. I have been thinking about rebuilding my current KA24DE. It has 200,XXX miles and I want it to be as strong as possible. I found this KA24DE rebuild kit at http://www.rpmmachine.com/enginerebuildkitsnissantop.html

I was wondering if the price for the Gold Rebuild kit was decent? I know some people say don't bother just save for a SR20 swap but I have an 18month old daughter and I am in the works in buying a house. So for right now I think a rebuild will suit me well. I will look into an SR20 or possibly a KA24DE-T once I get out of the army and settled in with a good job. I appreciate any opinions or advice. Thank you

Price is high, even though it includes a hefty load of parts. The oil pump isn't required and you can buy just a rebuild kit for it through the dealer for about $25. I'd source the gasket set off Ebay, and then do OE rings/bearings, you'd save about $100-150 going that route.

like Russ said, its a bit pricey. But if youre looking to build with OEM parts thats one thing.
I want it to be as strong as possible. If you want some power look at AMS rebuild Kits.

Sorry for the late reply. I was having trouble with my account and couldn't post or anything. I looked at all the re-build kits at AMS and I know they make quality parts. My friend goes through them for a lot of his parts on his SRT-4:down:. One problem I have is for that price I might as well save up for a well sourced SR20 am I wrong? There kits basically will make a new KA out of my motor wont they.

NikeBoy , what kit did you go with the basic rebuild or the advanced. I have found a few decent SR's for a few more hundred bucks then the advanced.
