After you unscrew the T-50 screws holding the steering wheel, you can basically remove the big nut in the middle and pull it off right?
I heard that there might be residual or static energy left in the system, even after you unplug the battery... I don't want the airbag to blow up while I'm taking off my steering wheel, are there any precautions I could take? Thanks

before messing with the screws and after disconnecting the battery, press the brake pedal few times. I have taken off my steering wheel enough times to fit the OE or AM s wheels and there should be no issues.

unplug the black wire with the yellow striping before you do ANYTHING
there is not enough power left over in the capacitors to deploy the airbag.
the residual energy is a stored charge that the SRS system has to protect you in the event of a crash that occurs if your sitting in your car after you have shut it off. It usually stays charged for about 15 min. But it can stay charged up to 30 min after you disconnect your battery. Dont be stupid. Take your battery all the way out. kill about half hr.(Drink a few beers..;) ) then go at it. Nasty airbag burns are painful and dont get ladies. (but your mom will tell you your still special..)

Or better yet, unplug the airbag itself. There's really no need to disconnect the battery, as soon as you unplug the bag you'd killed the circuit. There is no 'residual' energy since there are no capacitors in the airbag itself. Now if you left it plugged in while yanking on the steering wheel, that could possibly trip it, but no one is stupid enough to do that I hope.

Once the ignition is turned off the system is dead in under 3mins. I still like to take the battery off in case I his something else with the screwdriver(like the horn).

Thanks for the help
Wheres the black/yellow wire? Is it viewable after I take the trim pieces off? Also people said I should get a steering wheel puller... is that necessary? My notion was that after you take off the big center nut, you could just yank the whole thing off

There is no black/yellow wire, someone is a moron. The plug for the airbag will be found under the outer side access cover. Unplug it. Wires are white and yellow on the hub side.

leave the nut on a few threads or you'll get a face full of wheel.

leave that big 19mm nut on.. just incase..when you pull the wheel.
Like people have said.. it gets a little stuck, and you pull hard.. and gets unstuck and hits you in the face. INSTANT PWNAGE.
The big nut holding on your wheel.
