I've already spoken to S13SilviaGirl and she has allowed me to post this up.

Hey guys and girls,

I've been thinking about getting Lojack for a while now and with the recent theft of a friends car, it makes me want to get it even more so lol.

I'm talking to a couple of Nissan dealerships and also one of the sponsors here. As of now, I'm waiting to get word from the sponsor here before I ask any other place.

What I'm trying to do is to get a group buy together for the SoCal community. I get -nothing- out of this besides a cheaper lojack with install.

All i'm tryiing to do right now is to get an idea of how many people are game for this GB. If so, drop your name (SN counts) so I can add to the list! :)

So to sum it up:
Group Buy, Lojack for a cheaper cost, we are all happy and a higher chance to recover our cars quicker or at least catch the theives in progress, and to get an idea on how many people are game. :)

This is also going to be posted up on NICO.

I think it would be better if we can get a gps tracker instead of lo jack. GPS however has a monthly cost. But i think its more accurate and has updates as small as 1 minute intervals.

TravisSW

A friend and I where talking about that too, but Lojack is exactly the same thing.

As for price:
One shop is offering 650 and I have another (sponsor) that i'm waiting for that is going to see if they can beat that. I'm a bit busy atm, but I'm going to call up other dealerships too.

From the LoJack site:

4) Tracking
The LoJack Police Tracking Computer receives the LoJack Signal and leads the police to your stolen vehicle. Unlike GPS systems, which require line-of-sight access to orbiting satellites, LoJack's patented Radio Frequency Signal can penetrate forest cover, parking garages and many other obstructions, helping ensure the vehicle will be located by police, regardless of where thieves may be hiding it.

I'm VERY interested in this group buy, but a second option that i'd suggest looking into is GUIDEPOINT http://www.guidepointsystems.com/index.shtml
it's a gps tracking system, but it also has other features. iirc you can track it yourself on the internet too. i've never used either system, but for the amount of $ i've dumped into my car, i'd be fucking heartbroken if it vanished.

question. theoretically, if your car gets stolen and the thief disconnects the battery, does the lojack unit have some sort of internal reserve power?
also, is it true that lojack installers will not tell you where on your vehicle they've installed it? (just a rumor i heard).

Lojack has it's own power source and the will not tell you where they install it. I think it has some kind of black market value, I forgot why haha.

i just hope their techs have mad skills. i'm always skeptical of anyone else doing wiring on my car. i've seen way too many stereo installations that end up causing major driveability issues due to the tech tapping into the wrong wires. passats/jettas are notorious for losing dlc communication after installing aftermarket headunits cuz the techs always ground out a wire that feeds info to the pcm.

I'll update list later..i'm feeling lazy. Tired from work and I need to replace my front springs. *sigh* Coilovers in a week or two.

On Monday, i'm going to try to contact Lojack directly and see if I can get a better deal instead of going through a dealership.

In the end, it will be all worth it. I'm sure if somebody gets a stock S13 stolen with Lojack. I'm sure they'd never want to get it back 'cause of the 5k payout lol.

My brother in law is a police officer, and he works in a high auto theft area. He said they find the majority of cars with lojack within hours rather than days/weeks.

^^^never had experience with lojack, but ive been told there is a way to obscure the RF signal.
Unless you have some kind of proof concerning that other than "you've heard" you would be hard pressed to convince me otherwise that the lo jack is not a sound investment.

^^^ hurts even more when you've invested and it gets stolen.

I've had a lowjack on my 1999 honda civic si. The first time it was stolen it was driven from fontana out of my own DRIVEWAY to redlands and left in a trucking yard. The cops found my car within 20 minutes of my phone call of it disappearing.

The second time the fuel pump kill switch saved my cars life when it was stolen yet again from my driveway, pushed up the block and thieves tried to start the car. They then began chopping away at my under dash harness to get it running or look for an alarm system.

So every measure of security cannot hurt.

The lowjack has an internal battery and pretty much recharges itself off of your cars power so if someone thinks cutting the power to your car will obscure the signal they will have another thing coming to them when the cops show up at the place it's stored.

from my own "PERSONAL" experience.

I definitely would invest in one if you guys care to keep your cars, I hear nissans are getting scooped up like hotcakes nowadays.

The Basic is simply the tracking device system without the early warning sensor.

If it gets stolen its your responsibility to report it.

I emailed LoJack about a sale request. Here's the retail price for each system:

Thank you for your interest in LoJack. By considering a state of theart LoJack package for your vehicle, you have taken an important step inhelping protect it. Prices range from $695 to $995 and unlike othercompanies that charge large monthly, annual, and recovery fees, thereare never any additional fees with LoJack. Please review the followingpackages to find a solution that best suits your needs:

* LoJack Early Warning System (our most popular package):$995Our Early Warning System is our most popular package combining ourLoJack Stolen Recovery System with our quick responding Early WarningNotification System. This added layer of protection alerts you byphone, email, or text message if your vehicle has been moved withoutyour authorization. Thus, you will get your car back quicker, oftenwith less damage and a good chance of catching the criminals as well. The product is guaranteed against workmanship for the first two years ofownership and you may extend the warranty if you wish to do so.

* LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System: $695Our entry level package uses a small hidden transceiver to send a signalto police which allows them to track and recover your stolen vehicle. With this system, you won't know that your vehicle was stolen until younotice it is gone. However, once you do, you call the police to startyour activation. The product is guaranteed against workmanship for thefirst two years of ownership and you may extend the warranty if you wishto do so.

* Extended Recovery Warranty: $99Our Extended Recovery Warranty enhances your LoJack Recovery system orEarly Warning Recovery System by extending your LoJack 24-hour LimitedRecovery and product warranty for as long as you own your vehicle.Regularly priced at $149, you can save $50 by combining this warrantywith your system purchase.

Remember, these are one time charges and there are no monthly or annualfees or contracts to sign. In addition, when you purchase your LoJackdirectly from the company we will install your system for no extracharge Monday through Friday at your residence or place of business. Ifyou have any further questions or would like to schedule aninstallation, please contact me directly at the number below.

I replied asking about my question above and also asked how much longer the extended warranty last.

Karen from Lojack replies back:

If you choose to extend the warranty, it will be extended for as long as you own the vehicle. Also, to answer your other question, LoJack cannot be removed from one vehicle and put in another. The service can be transferred to another owner but the equipment stays in the vehicle in which it is installed. Please feel free to email or call me at 800-838-1177, ext. 2536 if you have any other questions or if you would like to schedule an appointment to have LoJack installed in your vehicle. Not sure if you posted it, but will all the installs be done in the OC? Maybe something closer for us people that live in the valley?

Sensor is placed randomly throughout the car. Who knows if they place 'em in a universal location. lol

So far this is still planned to be done in the OC. Either my house, which I don't want to do lol or at a local shop that wants to volunteer for it.

Shouldn't be problem, if anything, switch you to another group.

My only concern right now is that other people aren't doing anything for this. I did pretty much everything on my side except deciding on a spot to do this. It's up for other people to speak to Larry Saunders for information on the purchase. If they flake through, then this will. If I have at least 6+ cars, it will be cheaper. Not like we need all 35+ cars for the cheaper price.

Got an email from Larry:

Travis,

They can call me with their VIN numbers, credit card, year and make of vehicle. I will gladly book the appointment for them. Make sure they reference your full name since there is no name to the Nissan club. Calling me directly would be better since I can set up the appointment with them over the phone as opposed to emailing me.

By setting up an appointment with him over the phone, meaning they'll make the appointment to come out to our residence? I don't feel like being carless out there in OC for a couple hrs.

SO the groups are not meeting at a spot for the install anymore?
But scheduling an appointment with Larry. He comes to our place and does the installation?

From my understanding on that e-mail, yes.

That would make the most sense, since many people including myself want the installation done at a safe, convenient location.

I rather take it to a LoJack location (if possible) than have him coming to my house

Nacho_240
03-28-2008, 02:09 AM
I like the idea of having a lo jack representitive coming to our residence. It's more convenient and it will be done according to lo jacks' high standards. From what I've heard, other installers don't do as well as they could.

Rob's S14
03-28-2008, 10:42 AM
I agree with vutony. I'd be much more comfortable having done at a LoJack dealer. Besides that I really don't have room at my place.

03-31-2008, 11:47 PM
Anything new on this Travis? I think it'd be best to have it done at a Lojack dealer as the guys above said.

No update yet, 95% of the people have flaked though.

The only thing that I can really do is just find a location or just try to have LoJack installers go directly to each of your houses.

Rob's S14

I really want to get this, but if it's being installed at a house (my house) I don't think I'll be able to do it. I know you're trying to get updates and I'm sure finding a spot isn't easy, but that's kind of the deal breaker.

Also, just wanted to say thanks for going to all this trouble for us.

04-06-2008, 06:42 AM
I'm going to talk to the guy when I get a chance again and see if I can just have Lojack go to each persons house.

Just to make sure. Everybody that wants this is either in OC/LA/Riverside county right?

Btw, if I can get one more person for the Early Warning, we can get the complete discount of 750 or whatever it was.

04-08-2008, 02:00 PM
I'm talking to Larry right now. I'm getting the EWLS. I'm out in Ridgecrest, so he's seeing if they can get a local installer out here.

Has an installation location been picked out for SoCal?

EDIT: My local installation has been confirmed at the GB price. Thanks Travis!

TravisSW

Bump.
No updates, been busy, gah!

I want a PM from the people who HAVE called and ARE serious about this shit. lol I'll talk and see if I can just get you guys hooked up at a dealership or just have them come to you.

But I want at least the people who want the EWLS. Got Devnull and myself. So I just need 4 people more to get the discounted price of the EWLS of like 725/750.

Rob's S14
04-18-2008, 10:48 AM
I'm in for the EWLS. I guess if he's got to come to a house I'll work something out. Do we have to pay in advance, or do we pay after the work is done?

TravisSW
04-20-2008, 03:26 AM
Pay after work is done.

Please please please let me know if you talked to my guy Larry. Devnull is the only member who has done this so far.

04-28-2008, 09:24 PM
A lot has changed since I last checked this, including my name on the buyer list. I don't blame you though... I'm rarely on.

Anyways, put me down for the Early Warning w/ LT warranty list. I got the cash, but would would prefer to pay part cash, part credit card. Could I do that? If you can email me at [email protected] with expected installation date and time, thx Travis.

EDIT: I just noticed we don't have enough buyers for the EWLS yet. What's our price if we can't come up with enough people?

cisco240
04-28-2008, 09:45 PM
I'm still 100% down for this, but my car is not currently running.
It should be up NLT next weekend. If it can be installed at my place, than I can have it done anytime.
Oh yeah, I want the Early Warning system.

Rob's S14

Sorry Travis, but I've had a change of heart. I'm going with a different tracking device. Thanks for doing all this work though.

04-29-2008, 10:15 PM
Good News! I spoke to Larry today and if everything goes as planned, I'll be getting my early warning lo jack installed on Thursday. However, I paid over the phone which contradicts the posts above about paying after the work is done. I guess it's because I'll be getting it installed in my garage and can't really pay the installer by credit card then. Either way, it's a done deal.

/main post updated a bit

Grats guys on getting your systems installed!
Feel a lot better now? I hope so. :)

Anyways, if anybody else does it. Post up!
Probably another two weeks for me due to work hour cuts, grr.

REMEMBER THIS OFFER IS OVER AT THE END OF MAY!

/Rob: That's okay. :) What did you go with? Or do you want to keep it hush?

Rob's S14
04-30-2008, 02:18 PM
Nah it's cool. I'm going to go with Karr track. It has the same options as LoJack, but a few extras as well. Aside from just tracking the car you can give remote instructions, ie unlock doors, or engine kill. It's only a little bit more and since I've had my car stolen before I want as much protection as possible.

/\/\/\/\ just over $900 after tax. it was like 912. you only pay once. there is no annual fee or anything. if you call larry he can give you more accurate pricing. but this group buy saves you 2-300 off of list price.

TravisSW

Glad I could be of service.

How much was install though?

I'm almost tempted to go with basic, but frig it. What's an extra 200 compared to another 5k+ for a new S14?

Btw. Let your insurance know you have Lojack. It will lower your premium/payment whatever. May not be a lot, but hey, any bit helps. :D

Getting mine installed Friday, woot!

I'm still going to get a lockable hub and new aftermarket wheel lol. I'd prefer to have one with an airbag if I can find any, but whatever. If I wreck, I'll switch out wheels haha.

Hmm..wonder if I can get my hand on a Silivia wheel. Those are airbag ready yes?

Glad to be of assistance to all those who got it. Larry, when I talked to him mentioned somebody named Roberto. I guess he post here, anyways, yeah you need a CC or Debit card to pay.

Other than that, i'm still waiting. He gave me a 12-5pm window time and I have work at 4. -.- lol

Hahah woot, Lojack guy is here and guess what Brndck. It was the same guy you got. hahahaha. I think it's funny that he told me that I can't watch him, but come on, we already know where it goes. You blew it when you told me indirectly about your car Brndck.

To those who got the ELWS.

Drive around w/o your sensor for a bit so that you will get the call from lojack. Save that # onto your cell phone haha.

DONT FORGET TO REGISTER to on the Lojack site. Takes a short bit though for it to go through.
