View Full Version : CHim in If you got silk's pro seven's or buddyclub
I am looking at the silkroad coilovers or the tanabe pro seven Maybe even the buddy club but not sure. Don't care about ride comfort just want the best dd aoilover for track and maybe other stuff:jerkit: Anyways i now their different springs rates basically i just want people with the coilovers to chim in please.
Yes i know their are cheaper coilovers out there. Anyways pro seven's are at the top of my list but i found a good deal for the buddy clubs for about ($1300) shipped or the silkroads for ($1580) shipped tanaba i get for ($1789) shipped. I know the price's vary but what would be the best option for me performance wise i stress performance wise anyways thanks:2f2f:

i just got the sevens, i cant really compare them to anything because there my first set..
but very comfortable coils
the adjustability is amazing the difference from stiff and medium is a hugeeeeeee difference
i love them, im supper happy i got them
and a plus is, that my coils as tall as they go, are lower then my tein springs i had on my car (so they can go pretty damn low)
and if you like you could spend an extra hundred and get the system TEAS which adjusts your dampering to your SPEED (sorry i just find that awsome.. lol)
yeah that's what i thought to the seven's it is then..

I have silk roads on my coupe and I plan to buy a set for my s14 . They aren't to harsh for a daily, and have enough adj. for track days .

silk roads is like riding on silk roads
I've heard that Tanabe Sevens are reallly good because KYB manufacturers the shock assembly for them, so you dont get mystery valving. There was a thread on here recently discussing Koni/GC setups vs. preassembled coilovers, and the Koni/GC beat out most other noname coil setups.
There was also a guy who was talking about rebound and compression rates, how the no name ones have liner compression adjustment but the rebound was complete crap, changing exponentially instead of lineally. He claims the list included Buddy Club, Stance, and other "big name" companies.
I dunno, do deep research on that thread, coils aren't cheap.

good luck getting a set of Silks anytime soon in the USA. sure you can order them, but can you get a real ETA on them?
i love em, wish i could have gotten a set new. from experience, i love the rebound on them.
i went with Yashio Factory instead for something different.

Last time i checked here at Intec(the US distributor), there hasnt been a shipment to the US in over 9 months, and that was a month ago...
by all means, if you can get them, buy them. but if they tell you they arent exactly sure when they would come in, well, jump on the list.
id seriously just get them from Grant.

please tell me that is not all you got from that thread. if so i suggest going back and reading it again and dont just skim over stuff that you half understand so that you really understand what was discussed in that thread. while the koni GC setup is great and also what i have had since 2004 i would rather you know exactly what you are getting into with them

Nope.
Hence the "I dunno" part.
OP needs to do his own research.
Yeah so the silk roads over all 3 huh. They are that good anybody were i can less then (1580) shipped.:2f2f: It is for an s13 and the car is gonna mostly DD sometimes touge. Once again I got votes for the silk roads yesss.. They are cheaper than the pro sevens but their probably just hyped up. Anyways thanks for the feed back comfortibality is not an issue just riding characteristics, ohh yeah should i get the silk roads in 9/7 or jsut go for the 8/7 they offer?

I got the tanabe 7's. 10/8 spring rates and I love them. Ride quality is perfect, I used to daily drive my s13 for about 2 yrs with them on, and have drifted on them in several occasions. Perfect for both. At first I thought the 10/8 rates would have been too stiff, but there really note....i've rode in softer sprung s13's, and they don't ride nearly as nice. If you do get them, don't get the TEAS, its a waste of money in my opinion. I have it, but never touch it unless at the track. In which case i just make one adjustment. But the coilovers themselves are great.
Only one complaint, they don't put me low enough. Up front I'm maxed out, and I still want to go lower. I hate fender gap, and I have about an inch and a half, with 17x8 and a 205/40 tire. I'm actually thinking about getting new coils to go lower.
Silkroads are good tho, that was my second choice, if i didn't get the 7's....

+1 for truth.
If you want to lower your car more, remove the collars. Or you should buy swift springs in a slightly shorter height.
How hard is it to double check your spelling before you hit the "post" button for a new thread?
pretty hard cuz i can't read:eek3: But thanks for the input I am really stuck between the silk's and pro sevens. I was about to buy the seven's but then i found the silk's for cheaper. Dammit ahhhhhhhhhhh.:faint: silk's or seven's or silk's or seven's ahhhhhhhhhh

When I ordered my Silk Roads (about 2 years ago) they were drop-shipped straight from Japan. I think I ordered them through R&D Factory. I think they're great for DD. Never been to the track on them, so can't comment on that.

Do you have the 7's? I thought about removing the collars, but the bottom collar(locks the bottom bracket) is designed differently that the upper two. If you have the 7's, and have removed the collar(s), which ones did you remove? And have you had any problems with that, anymore noise lossening, etc?

find someone in japan to get them for you! section RMA8's go for about 1000 so you might be able to cut the shipping if you can find someone to cut shipping costs?
