Anyone installed them successfully on s13? I'm asking because brackets won't fit right and there's no way such a long damper can fit in curved fender area. Damper body is hitting the area where fender meets body and hood won't close. Yes, I followed the instruction 100% correctly. Please share with your experience with CS hood damper. Contacted the seller, but they won't help much. All I hear is "Installation problem" which I don't agree.

My hood wont close 100% / latch properly. It's probably related to the dampers, which I plan to take out, or mabe I'll use hood pins.

looks flimsy, looks like a useless mod...even worst if it doesnt close or latch properly.

Yea... I'm not a big fan of them, but they came on the car.

Yah probably placed it in the wong area. I don't think its their fault. Try putting it further to the hinger area and the other end on the side of the engine bay?

Nope! I followed their instruction sheet and installed exactly the same. I bought these because phase2 said they are direct bolt on without any drilling.

Ninjabread, does your bracket look like this? Mine wouldn't line up, so I had to cut it.

I have seen a few that work fine. They are great with a light hood like fibreglass, you trip out on how easy it is to lift, and it just stays there. Its a much nicer feeling than lifting that 100lbs hood up.

I should have done this. I searched and didn't see any negative feedbacks on CS dampers and that's why I got them.

try moving the mounting point up on the fender, it looks too far extended when trying to close.

If you do that you have to move mounting point on the hood too. There's no way I can compress the damper with my hands.

I want to hear from someone who made these dampers work on s13 with a hood that closes perfectly flush. phase2 is claming that it's my fault, but as you can see mine looks just like instruction. I tried to email CS, but their email address in the website doesn't work.

Well don't get angry at me. I don't work for phase 2 or circuit sports, or sell any of their products, endorse them or act as any type of product sponsor. I was simply telling you I have seen them IN ACTION ON CARS WORKING.
I am out of this thread now.

i have em on my s14.. fit like a charm and are awesome when actually workin the bay. Surprisingly they strong enough to keep the hood up at all times even with HEAVY winds, low enough to where you can reach over them with no problem and no stock prop to get in the way.

I wonder if the s13 versions have a shorter shock and they sent you a s14 version of them.
Everything in your kit looks exactly like mine.

I got the correct shock. I know it cuz length is perfect from the hood hinge to the bolt on the fender.
I saw a thread that you bought a set from someone. How about yours? According to phase2, shock body should face the front and rod should face the windshield like this picture on s14.

Mine are installed the same way that you have yours installed(same as instructions) with the shock body facing the windshield.
have u tried flipping yours?

I sure did. Doesn't work either.
s13 hood is slightly curved and this long damper just won't fit in the space between hood and fender, so it's lifting the hinge and wouldn't shut.

hmm that sucks. how about swapping the brackets and putting them on upside down from waht the instructions show? It should give u a little more "room" for the length.. if i am looking at it right.

Actually, that'll make things even worse. Damper should be very close to the hood and you have more space that way. Anyway, so your hood closes fine and flush with the fender? s14 hood is more straight compare to s13's, so yours should look better.

yea mine fits flush.. i put down some putty along the fender to see if it would bind in any way and it came close but didnt touch anything and the hood is nice and flush.
I actually first saw these on a s13 and at the time i didnt notice the hood not fitting flush, but i didnt pay much attention.. Good luck.

Hopefully, these pics will clear things up. As you can see, this kit will never work on s13. It'll work if you raise the hood using washers, but not everyone wants to do that. I want stock looks.

Can anyone tell me the specs on these shocks?
Looking for the total uncompressed length, and the stroke length.
Thanks.

I assure you, you are not the first with this problem. I bought a parts car with these on it, fit perfectly. Took them off and tried putting them on my car.. no go. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
