Okay Im looking to get some new rims and tires for my 240. I was going to get 16x7 rims with a +40 offset and run 225's all around. I've asked people on this board and asked places that sell wheels if a 225 tire is too wide for the 7" rim. Do any of you guys have any pics that you could post of a 225 tire on a 7" rim? Some people say the tire will come over the edge of the rim, some say it will be okay, some say there will be just a minor bulge, I really can't draw any conclusions...

Thanks for all your help guys, you're a great resource.

i have 225/40 on a 7.5" rim and its a little bit over, so i thonk ud be better off with a 215/40

Well I was thinking of going with 215/45/16 Falken Azenis. Do you guys think that that size of tire will affect the speedo or will it be okay? Thanks, Jason.

honesty, i wouldnt use a 215 on a 7".
i think a 205 would be better.ihave a 205/55 on a 7" and the response is nice. i think it would be mch better on a 50 though.

but a azenis is all good so go for it.

215/45/16's will cause the speedo to be slightly off...it'd work, but you're speedo would be about 2mph slow at 60mph and you'd have about another 1/2" of wheel gap.  The right size is 215/50/16's.
225's on a 7" wheel is overkill.  It'll probably fit fine, but that extra 10mm of tread is just gonna be rolled up off the contact patch anyway...not to mention the squirmier sidewall.  Stick with 215's or get 7.5" rims.

Okay, looks like I'll go with the 215's. Thanks everyone. One quick question though, would a 16" wheel with a +38 offset work for my 91 240? Thanks, Jason.

If it's a 7" rim and you're using 215's it should fit with +38 w/o a problem.  I have 7.5"/225/+35 with about 10mm of space between the front tire and strut...you should have a little more than that.

225 is fine for a 7" wheel. &nbsp;I'm running 205's in a 6" wheel. &nbsp; It'll fit. &nbsp;I'd worry more about that +40 Honda offset, or that low sidewall height. &nbsp;Proper tire sizes would be 215/50-16 or 225/50-16. &nbsp; This isn't a Civic, you can fit real tires in the fenders <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Again I say...
Will it fit? &nbsp;Yes.
Is it ideal? &nbsp;Definitely not.
If you're gonna get "real tires", get some "real rims". &nbsp; And I believe you can fit 225's in the fenders of a Civic as well.

oh my bad, ignore my comment i thought it was a 17" rim, anyways, i have a 42 offset on an 18x7.5 with a 225/40 and i dont rub anything, but my springs (Apex-i) are also much smaller than alot of springs
