If my timing chain is rattling and ive already taken off the top guide and it didnt completly stop the rattle should i just go ahead and do the whole timing chain kit? if so where should i purchase it from? and if i to bring it to my mechanic what do you think i will be looking at for labor?
What about this kit? no good?

Usually the upper guide (by the distributor) is the one that makes the most noise. Remove it before you decide to do a chain job.

Can you take that one off with just the valve cover off? Or do you know of any write ups on removing it?

Write up:
Take off valve cover.
Remove upper timing chain guide that is clearly obvious right in front of your face (2 bolts)
Replace valve cover.

Just to clarify, you should be able to do this to both SRs and KAs, right?

That's the top guide, not the upper. Two completely different pieces.
SRs do not have an upper guide, only a top.
