How come? Aren't stock cats like 1.75"? So if you get a 3" catback it's practically worthless with the car because your thinnest place is still 1.75.... I thought that if i wanted 2.5"+ piping all the way from the engine, i had to change a cat... so how is it a waste?

High flow cats are the same size. Just less crap in it than stockies.

Well yes and no. High flow cats are made to fit on stock exhausts so the ends are not any bigger. However they have been reported to give a boost of a whopping 1~2 hp on some cars. All in all they really are pretty pointless.

Actually now that i think of it I might be wrong. I think the random tech cat IS bigger that's why they got that 1hp cause they dynoed a car that already had an exhaust. Either way pointless.

Yeah, the high flow cat is a waste. &nbsp;I bought a test pipe instead. &nbsp;You can tell the diff. &nbsp;The stock cat definatly chokes the exhast quite a bit. &nbsp;I put my stock cat back in for my yearly inpections. &nbsp;My car runs like a turd with it on. &nbsp;My buddy has a high flow cat on his turbo dsm, and he says it chokes the crap out of his 3in set up.

It really concerns me, cuz i don't wonna run catless but at the same time i don't want my exhaust to be less than 2.5" at any place....

PS, i'm not sure but that thing on n1-dual might be a resonator and not a cat.... unless you are sure about it ::0

actually, the hiflow cats are larger then stock...unless stock cats are 2.5-3", which I highly doubt. I have the random tech hi-flow...and I can assure you it's 2.5"...

as far as performance...I don't care if it added 1-2 hp or not..I needed a new cat, and I wanted 2.5 piping all the way. Why run a cat? Because I care about emissions. I don't want to live in LA thank you, I'm sure it's fun there..but I like my blue sky. If someone has a couple of extra HP because of a test pipe...oh well, I can live with being that much slower.

*edit*-most catbacks, if not all, come with resonators. &nbsp;But if you bought it used, it could be a cat, if it's right on the end...you should be able to tell the difference..
