Hey Everyone I just have a couple questions for you all who have been through many sr20's. So this is the deal I am getting a Garrett GT30 turbo, Map ECU, 550cc injectors and my question is how do the Stock sr20det cams run under high upgrades like what I am buying. Is this a situation where I should upgrade the cams and cam gears or do the stock internals stand up pretty well to large hp numbers. I know in the future I will end up rebuilding the motor anyway but I would rather not have to replace cam gears right now if I dont' have too. Any help?

well 550cc injectors for a turbo that size might give you around 350HP. 550 is pretty small. Key is if tuned right you are fine. cam gears are a waste of time. You will definitely see a restriction with the stocks comes if you are looking or top end horsepower. A better match would be somewhere around 264 for some useable HP. Why don't you do a search as well.... It is very well discussed + you are going top mount, you have other things to think about. Also your MAFS is going to hold you back too...

Hey thanks for the info. The good thing about the Map ECU is that it gets rid of the MAFS so you dont have one, there is not fuel or boost cut...they work really well on the 240 with the right tuning

MAP ECU, when you say Map ecu, I just thought you miss typed. MAP should be all capped cause it is a acronym for Mass Atmospheric Pressure...

Yes but MAPs accounts for pressure and not air flow... Put a larger exhaust on a car with an AFM and the AFM will add fuel accordingly where as a MAP won't see the increase in exhaust flow and the car will lean out.
I prefer a MAP to an AFM but there are pro's and con's of both...
Adjustable gears are a good thing to have for tuning. Timing can make or break a car as far as what cam you want?
Duration and lift. Lift creates overlap which gives you the "blurp blurp blurp" idle. Overlap is good for rev's. Duration is what pushes the powerband higher, the higher the cam duration the higher your powerband will be and the higher your operating RPM's go.
Too big a duration and you may need to upgrade your springs and whatever else...
Higher cam duration means more exhaust flow which means you'll need a bigger exhaust housing on your turbo..
