Search man, there's hundreds and hundreds of hid threads.

Best is OEM retro-fit, cheapest and easiest is drop-in kit as can be bought from several sellers in the Advertiser's Specials section of the forum.

retrofits are nice, but its expensive.
If you have a kouki, just get the drop ins, ones, its cheap and effective.
I have it on my kouki.

That pic was from my kouki

than u crap cutoff and the intensity of the beam is wasted

light output is crap i have both if u wanna take a look give me a call

i have a set of kouki headlight with retro fit and a set with drop ins.

after doin it with tsx retro fit projectors it only cost me 150-200 more than i woulda spent with the craptastic drop in kits only

huge improvement, come by man

narrow beam pattern may be due to how close he is the garage door, but all that glare and hot spots are not effective at all

Not everyone can afford or have the know how to retrofit HID projectors.

TSX projectors: $100-$150
D2S Ignitor/Ballast kit: $200+ new from hidplanet.com

The cheapo HID kits that carparthookup posted up are like $120-$130 probably, and yes they may not be as good it it definitely beats putting HID lights into reflector housings. To say that putting HID lights into the standard halogen projectors as not effective at all is waaaaaaay over generalizing, since they do in fact give some improvement over the stock halogen lights.

Right, it costs you that much... How much will you charge him? All I see here is a seller trying to compete by badmouthing another person's product.

Because the product isn't as good as what could be done with a retro-fit. They're really not that hard to do. There are write-ups on several sites like 240sxforums.com and the HIDplanet forums. Plus, if you're worried about wiring, you can just buy pre-made wiring harnesses for connecting everything up. That's what I'm going to have to do this summer when I retro my Kouki. I dunno how many times I've posted up this comparison pic that I stole from HIDplanet.

Check out the differences:

so your saying with the stock projectors I already have right now in my headlights won't work well with hid kits?

pbcstylez
03-06-2008, 09:02 PM
it will work, but its just not recommended, honestly id stick with halogens and save up some money and do it once and do it right

like i said i can drop by on saturday n show u probably if my car decides to behave

Obviously retrofit will give yo better light output, and beam pattern but a drop in kit may be acceptable to you.

This is whata 6000k kit looked on mine, with a passenger headlight aligned too high.

You can almost get 2 sets drop in HIDs for one set of projectors.

You swear like this was 2006 and everyone was like OH WOW RETROFITTING IS THE SHIT.....I WANNA PUT THAT ON MY HONDA NEON/DODGE NEON

Most of my customers dont give a shit about other people on the street.
They know what they want, brighter lights, quick and easy, and reasonably priced OF COURSE.

so your saying with the stock projectors I already have right now in my headlights won't work well with hid kits?
Dude, me and kdashy run drop in HID. We BOTH have S14 koukis, And these HIDs are awesome.

The honda kids brain washed everyone on the interweb with the "YOU NEED TO RETROFIT HIDS, OR YOU ARE STUPID" bullshit....besides, my HID kits are only $125 shipped.

ixfxi would have a field day right now. there should be a thread on here somewhere that tells of all the HID companies that have been banned for improper light emissions or w/e, so if you end up buying HIDs just make sure theyre not from one of those companies

Way to talk like a ricer. Remember the motto, buy nice, not twice?

So your customers don't care about other people? Way to have a shitty user base and attitude about the problem. Who needs to have propper lighting? Just shoot light everywhere and who gives a fuck? Such a shitty attitute.

You sir are a moron who has a horrible sales pitch.

You keep talking about, "honda kids". Is that supposed to be an insult? Last I check it was used to reflect the image of people who are cheap/don't give a fuck. Much like you.

Not having proper cut off and believing that your light output is the only important thing about automotive lighting is what made HID drop in kits illegal.

I'm not going to preach on proper lighting, or anything because I would be a hypocrite if I did.

But I know that I would be much more proud of my lighting set up if I had projectors to do it in.

If you're going to go the way of halogens, at LEAST get a set of good H4 headlight housings so you don't destroy the rods and cones in the on coming drivers.

Something like that, don't go Ebay for the love of god.

Can we get an HID sticky? It seems like we get the same thread every other week that always boils down to people not wanting to pay to play and blinding on coming traffic.

I'm with what ixfxi must have said a hundred times. Good halogens are better than some hack job HIDs any day.

hid kits are like <90 bucks now
not bad to drop in meanwhile
doing a retrofit:P
then u can still use the ballast off the kit to power the new retrofit

Glad some people other than myself are. People only think of themselves these days. I can assure you, if a vehicle was driving behind/towards any one of the people who have the, "I don't give a fuck" attitude with hid's or highbeems on they would bitch and complain.

thats how i think wen i buy hid, and thats what i tell others.

i rather not be on the receiving of being blinded. i rather b the one blinded others and see'n the road. then the jackass with dimm ass yellow lights. b a man and retrofit laters or get filters.

get a h4 to d2s adapter.

Think about how much glare you get from those pickups with upper and lower head lights. These HIDs glare far worse and for me that glare could temporarily blind me or give me a serious migraine headache.

For people who take the time and money do get a good kit[such as the clearcorners.com kit] or retro fit quality lighting properly they are happier as well as the other drivers on the road.
