Can anyone recommend any reputable shops in socal that regularly do s13/s14 engine swaps? I'm looking to buy a KA24DE and am having trouble locating one, so the next step would go to see if any swap shops have any left over from a job they have done.

Anywhere in Los Angeles/Orange County.

Thanks.

Last time I checked they didnt know how to tune a power fc.

But i guess a motor swap is much simpler affair.

I give him -2, for the poor swap job he did on shmex's ka24de, that makeshift maf plug, not to mention the black smoke that keeps pouring out.... yeah go rick at smoothlines, they did my swap, and i've beat in 20k miles already no problem, also marco at sr20store does good work. I don't know about rnd factory's craftsmentship cause i have not gone there. i have heard mixed things about them. but the owner edward chu is a nice guy, though he needs to get a new business license, cause the one his merchant account is listed under "nio international" has a suspended license since 2003. follow the link and see -http://kepler.sos.ca.gov/corpdata/ShowAllList?QueryCorpNumber=C2527957

Yeah I dunno.....I guess spencer is a fifty fifty and I got the broad end of the stick...

See it all started out getting referred to him. He's great on getting bckto you hoeever, and returning phone calls. He's not a scumbag like that. Take your car and vanises..nope. I just got an iffy ka24de....it ran strong all the way till a month ago. So idunno. I took care of it. Made sure it always had coolant, top doller oil. One of the fuelinjetors blewout...besides the stupid fucking jimmy rigged piece of sit maf popping off(wich obviously doesn't let my car rev past 3k..wich isn't good while driving on the road)...was the only problem I had. Then all of a sudden motor started going south. Started to semi sound like a diesel, maf was mesisn up a lot. Then finally I'm at where I am now. Diagnosed everything but the actual engine(no funds, no place, no how)internals and whatnot. ...that was the nutshell. SPENCER IS A VERYYYY COOL DUDE, however not such a good mechanic and automotive tech. There's simple shit that he did to take the shortcut. Easy money. Can't blame him, who doesn't want quick cash...just do a good job..anyways that's my full review. I left something out. Something he definately did retarded that I'm sper duper pissed of at him bout....is his lack of craftsmanship coming down to power steering. Ediot gave methe sohc hoses, instead of dohc. If that doesn't ger you to decide weather or not to go with him...I dunn owhat does....his engines are clean though. Not dirty at all. Saw him swapping a rb20 at the same tim.e you got money you get the time it seemed like.

So sorry for rambling, but if I said anything, it had to be everything.

i have beat on the motor i got from smoothlinez. Rick sourced me a clean 97 180sx sr20det. the oem clutch was still good, and there was no resurfacing needed for the flywheel. also the cams had no wear on them... I highly recommend Smoothlinez because they do good work, have a business license, and have a giant stack of car mags in their bathroom... which is also clean too..

RND Factory = Fail.

buddy got quoted for a TypeX Blacktop. 4 days contracted time. Paid on the spot, 3200. Took over 1.75 months to get done. When we went to inspect, wasn't a blacktop, shittiest swap we've ever seen, mickeymoused piping. HORRID. Took it out for a test drive around the block, it wasn't as responsive but he needed it. Took it on the freeway and it was smoking like crazy.

RnD Factory = fail.

I delt with R&D Ed & Peter are pretty cool guys...However took a little too long with the swap. HAd some issues with my JDM climate control told me there is some kinda issue with the wiring or something to where I needed another switch too get the blower to blow cold. Also hooked my dual electric fans straight too my ignition fans are on all the time said there was no other way too do it. But other than that pretty nice guys. Gave me a good deal.
