i have this problem all to frequently. its 11:30pm. i went to bed at 8:30pm, because i have to get up for work at 4:30. i slept for about 30 mins. then just rolled around for a couple hours. shit is miserable. i did the same shit last night. on the way home from work, i kept falling asleep in the car. its cool though, cause i wasnt driving, ofcourse. but shit. i get home from work, completely exhausted. then i just stare off into space all night. its the WORST. i've done the sleeping pill thing. but they dont really do anything for me, unless i increase the dosage. but then i am totally fucked and groggy the next day. ive been thinking about trying a multivitamin or something. its got to help a little???
any of you guys ever have this problem. the only time i really get GOOD sleep, is after a few beers. obviously, thats not a fantastic idea if i've got to work the next day. but just like always, tomorrow is going to be the longest day of my life...

its the same thing with me man. i am terrible at sleeping, have been for as long as i can remember. pretty much no matter what i try. ive just accepted it for now and maybe my body will change in the future. also, i eat very healthy and get a lot of exercise so i would think i SHOULD be able to sleep, but to no avail.
my girlfriend tells me i have a lot of anixety, but im not too sure on that. so that could be a factor for you too.

you guys are retarded
you don't need nyquil to fall asleep
just take a sleeping pill its the same fucking ingredient in nyquil
don't consume any caffeine, don't drink soda or pop what ever the fuck you want to say or lower your sugar
taking a multivitam should give you more energy and feel overall better throughout your days schedule and you can goto sleep on time
other than that, stay off the computer 1-2hours before you goto sleep it really fucks with you
get some exercise maybe start a work out plan in the evening
learn how to meditate often when doing meditation people will doze off into sleep without even being tired
yeah theres lots of tricks

good to go scare yourself awake
seriously i've been downing the nyquil for the last few days because of this kickass flu. on night one i woke up thinking i could bend metal with my mind and was pissed off that none of my sick metal creations were in my room. night two i woke up by dreaming that i had stolen a cessna from the police, which didn't work out because i don't know how to fly planes. my crash and body exiting the plane were far too vivid, so last night i didn't take any, just a bunch of tussin instead, which worked fine
and i mean, i've taken a ton of naps with bad dreams too, i've probably spent like two or three hours laying on my bed thinking i was dead in the last few days

I kinda deal with the same thing fairly often. It kinda sucks. It's been getting more frequent lately. I would try nyquil or something, but whenever I have any kind of sleep aid I can't wake up the next day till like noon... which is no good. *shrug* good luck with it.
I usually sit on my computer and play video games or read forums till my eyes can't stay open anymore and then I jump into bed. knocks me out most of the time...

set your alarm real loud, then smoke some weed and go to bed. i know its not the greatest solution to your problem but it actually works and you wont wake up groggy or hung over unless you smoke alot. it aint all bad. unless your job requires you to piss clean. and it sure is a HELL of alot safer for your brain than all those prescription sleeping pills.

lol welcome to my life....I seriously have the worst sleeping habits, lol my friends always tell me the same thing. From falling asleep during the day and not being able to sleep at night to just not being able to sleep in general, I have all kinds of crazy shit goin on with me.....some of us are just night owls I guess. For me to fall asleep everything has to be perfect, no sounds except maybe white noise or the wind or cars going by, tv has to be off, movies and shit like this damn website keep me up longer...and idk how you guys get laid and then sleep....my heart is always goin so fast after that it wakes me up...meanwhile shes passin out =/....i find the main thing is to truly relax, the more you focus on sleep the less you can fall asleep, and the more you focus on any distractions the more they will keep you up....get some heavy ass food, stuff your face, get really comfortable in bed and just let your mind wander and youll pass out

Make sure you set a sleep time on the TV. Your brain stays active and never has the time to recover. That's why it'd be ridiculously difficult to fall asleep in a club.

even when i don't get much sleep the night before, i want to stay up late, for like 20 hours total or something, then sleep for 10
it comes out the the same ratio as 16 awake and 8 sleeping, just need a 30 hour day to do it in.
maybe i can compromise and be awake for 19 hours and sleep for 9, and have 6 28-hour days in a week. it's the same total hours as 7 24-hour days :aw:
i also have this stupid unnatural "awakeness curve"
most people for example, would wake up at 7, have peak awakeness between 10 and 1, kinda fall off til 5, then have a slow decline til bedtime.
that's why the business world has hours like that.
but me...
if i wake up at 7, i'm a vegetable till noon, then slowly climb up to a peak between 8 and 11pm, and drop off kind of abruptly around 3am

For the past two years I've been going to bed at 3-5 in the morning, I hate it because I don't have any energy on days when I have to wake up a few hours later, I always tell myself I'll go to bed like a normal person tonight but I just end up staying up late again for no reason, I seriously need to work on self control.

Find some kind of exercise you enjoy. I have had the same sleep problems and I just started taking Muay Thai. Its fun and when I get home at 8pm or so I am exhausted. I then spend a couple hours just eating and doing stuff around the house and I crash hard at 11 or so.

Here's what I can think of:
1) Get exercise. If your body gets no physical activity during the day, it's not going to be able to tell much difference between "active" time and "rest" time (that's how I think of it). You won't have enough energy during the day when you need to get stuff done, and you won't be tired enough at night when it's time to sleep. Try to wear yourself out during the day and it'll be much easier to fall asleep at night.
2) Eat well, and take a multivitamin.
3) No bright lights for ~20 minutes before you go to sleep. This includes TV. Maybe turn the lights out and just have some dim light in the room, and read a book or something for 20 minutes.
4) If you're laying there for half an hour and can't go to sleep, give up. Get up, read a book or something, distract yourself for a while, then go back to bed and try again.

i use to work out (martial arts) everyday from 7-8pm. go home. eat a little something. take a shower. go to bed. it worked GREAT. the older you get though.... it seems like the less time you have (always busy). try not to eat, shower, or run errands late, they tend to keep you awake.

exercise is the way to go, trust me...no pills or anything...worst thing you want to happen is to get used to having to take them to get some sleep :nono:...with exercise you get two benefits anyway...;)...even if it is just a 30 min run...beer is or two always ok by my standards lol

Stick to a schedule. Mum was right when she set a time we always had to go to sleep as kids. Sticking to a schedule allows your body to set its internal rhythm so you can get up at the time you want, consistently, every single day. Also, make sure you try to keep the same schedule on weekends too, otherwise the next morning, you’d wake later and feel overly tired.
Sleep only at night. Avoid daytime sleep if possible. Daytime naps steal hours from nighttime slumber. Limit daytime sleep to 20-minute, power naps.
Exercise. It’s actually known to help you sleep better. Your body uses the sleep period to recover its muscles and joints that have been exercised. Twenty to thirty minutes of exercise every day can help you sleep, but be sure to exercise in the morning or afternoon. Exercise stimulates the body and aerobic activity before bedtime may make falling asleep more difficult.
Taking a hot shower or bath before bed helps bring on sleep because they can relax tense muscles.
Avoid eating just before bed. Give yourself at least 2 hours from when you eat to when you sleep. This allows for digestion to happen (or at least start) well before you go to sleep so your body can rest well during the night, rather than churning away your food.
Avoid caffeine. It keeps you awake and that’s now what you want for a good nights sleep. We all know that.
Read a fiction book. It takes you to a whole new world if you really get into it. And then take some time to ponder over the book as you fall asleep. I find as I read more and more, regardless of the book, I get more tired at night and so find it easier to fall asleep. Different for others?
Have the room slightly cooler. I prefer this to a hot room. I prefer to turn off the heat and allow the coolness to circulate in and out of the windows. If I get cold, I wear warmer clothes. It also saves on the bills as you’re not going to require the heat all night long.
Sleep in silence. I find sleeping with no music or TV on more easy and restful. I guess others are different, but sleep with no distractions is best for a clearer mind.
Avoid alcohol before bedtime. It’s a depressant; although it may make it easier to fall asleep, it causes you to wake up during the night. As alcohol is digested your body goes into withdrawal from the alcohol, causing nighttime awakenings and often nightmares for some people.

alright, its just about 7:30. im gonna wait a couple hours before i crash. my eyeballs are on fire.
at work, its not like i sit on my ass all the time. im usually sweating my balls off by 7am. i get to relax the next few hours. then around 4, im busting ass again. then heading home. people that dont work with me very often, are completely exhausted after 1 day. its not like im in great shape at all, i just am used to doing it 5 days a week [6 this week]. i wish i had more motivation to get exercise when im not working. or atleast another person that was focused on being more healthy. on my offtime from work, im getting wasted and smoking as many cigs as i can. then i feel shitty sunday and monday. i know its not helping anything. but im young and effing stupid. :bigok:
i think im going to pick up a multivitamin this weekend. anything that simple, that will increase my energy during the day sounds like a winner to me.
but im feeling confident about tonight. LOL. afterall, i get to 'sleep in' tomorrow. 5:45am. piece of cake.

Take a notepad or sketchbook in bed and start writing or drawing away. I guarantee you will start feeling sleepy in 10-15 minutes. It always works for me. If all else fails just watch TV, jerk off, or cry yourself to sleep.

Also, like others have said...don't do 1) right before bed. I did my workout from 9:30 to ~9:50 last night, and tried to go to sleep at 10:30. It, umm, didn't work. :(
And definitely have some sex before bed, with yourself or someone else.

Most of the time I can't sleep cause i'm feeling stressed or sometimes my sholders just get real knotted up. When this happens I try to running/jogging/walking a bit the next day,to get the blood flowing, then i'll try sleeping in a different spot, like the guest bedroom, the couch, or the floor. Might sound wierd but it works for me. When you gonna post up some new pics?

I had a sleeping disorder for most of my life.
SEVERE sleep apnea.
I got surgery. Now sleeping is good but i'm still used to staying up for nearly 20 or so hours on average. I can stay up for 2 days straight and be perfectly fine...
Pot doesn't make me sleepy. Painkillers and shit like that do though. Luckily for me i'm not a pillhead junkie addict fucker and I haven't done em since my surgery in December. I slept like a baby. It was great.
Oh damn, how is/was your sleeping schedule before and after the surgery? I have some of the symptoms and I'm a bit worried. Girlfriend says I stop breathing sometimes and when I wake up, I WAKE UP. I sometimes wake up with a violent twitch and hit her, haha. I also have RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) which may be tied to it as well.
Lack of sleep is no joke. It fucks up your biological clock, diet, and daily awareness. FUCK. Which reminds me: I gotta sleep now haha.

Sorry for a back to back post, but I can relate to this. I think I've read it somewhere, too, but if you can't sleep, try a different spot: living room couch, other side of bed, or even the floor. You, psychologically, are so used to routinely sleeping in the same spot that you get "bored" of sleeping in it. When you try out a new spot, your brain sort of gets excited about the new spot because of the different conditions (ie. ambient sounds, surface texture, elevation/temp change) and is willing to sleep. Try it out. It worked for me and a couple friends that I've advised them about it said it's worked for them too.
