Ok so I went ot and got a "apc" brather filter and installed it yesterday.I was told it will help cut some of the heat down in the engie to give better cooler air to the intake. Is that true and will this help any.

if its apc i seriously doubt it does anything, but i dont know.
i would never put that shit on my car for sure.

the best filters are Apex'i-does power and filtering excellent
blitz filters the worst but adds more power
hks sucks all around-but what do you expect, they havent come out with any new technology in ages.

I don't really think that company matters with such a trivial thing. Any who, concerning performance, i doubt that it would do anything. Only way to check that out would be to dyno with and without one but who in gods name would do something like that.

Ok dousan36 this is no intake filer it is just a lilltl filter that goes on the breather element on the valve cover.Itis where that tube that comes out the valve cover on the side usally the intake tube is there and connected there witha t secion.I have a k&n intake filter on my intake. It si suppose to help breath a lil better and let less hot air into the intake.

i seriously doubt it does anything. there is so much heat coming off the engine and the manifold. im sure you are getting cooler air but not enough to even make enough different in the temp.

if you REALLY wanted to find out, get a techtom and run it with and without the breather, then you'd know.

i've never seen such on any type of race/drift/grip car before..soooo..im thinking more form over function on it. maybe somoene has some solid facts/data on it.

I had a couple of those on my old car. Not worth the 20 bucks I spent on them. They go on your valve cover and on your intake. It replaces a hose thats supposed to do something like release oil or something, I dont really remember... too tired. If I dont forget, and Im more with it tomorrow I'll reply again. But I do remember they're crap, and iirc dont perform better, only hurt engine life.

A breather filter is supposed to allow the valvecover to de-pressurize at high rpms.  Usually, the pressure goes into the intake, but sometimes bits of oil can get into the intake, so people opt for the breather filter.
But, I am pretty sure this will not allow you to run on most quality tracks.  You need it stock (going into the intake), or to a catch can.
