I thought this was pretty interesting, it is an article from the Lady's Home Journal in 1900, predicting what it would be like in the year 2001.

haha thats interesting.. i wonder if people thought the person that wrote it was talking out of their ass or something..
hmm lets make our own "what will happen in 100 years starting from 2008"
1. Internet porn will be one of the most popular american past times, porn stars will have higher pay rolls then sports stars.

Here is that article in text, instead of that large and hard to read image:

Yea I'm curious to see what experts are predicting 100 years from now. What an awesomely interesting article.

As I read this, I'm thinking this is all BS because it's so accurate to what we have now. I don't know if someone just made this article up or not, but if they didn't these people made some really good predictions.

Yea, but some of the stuff is WAY off base. Wild animals won't exist and horses will be extinct? :ugh:

The only thing I hope really happens within our next 100 years is affordable inter/outer space travel. I want to know what lightspeed really feels like. I want to know what it feels like to be on Mars. I want to meet Jabba, Yoda, Darth etc.

I agree on the space travel. This makes me think of a good thread idea. Would you want to be immortal? I would...

Yeah I want to stay 24 forever or maybe select an age I can stay at forever. That would be sweet. But then the world would be so over populated and prices for everything will raise even more. Maybe they'll have more EMO kids offing themselves to balance out the population.
But yeah, some were way off but someone could have made that up to make it kind of believable.

Yea but the galaxy is never ending with unlimited universes for people to live on. By the time people can live forever, im sure we'd be able to travel to different universes.

I don't know about living forever because life would just become mundane but living till your about 200 in a good healthy way is more feasible.
+1 for a good thread

No one lives forever, no one. But with advances in modern science and my high level income, it's not crazy to think I can live to be 245, maybe 300.

lol thats so crazy...so much of that is so accurate in one way or another, but at the same time its fascinating that they couldnt see beyond some of the technology of their day to see some of the possibilities of the future
what I think is most interesting is the fact that all these people lived without things that we just assume as a part of life, to them Dominos or television or central air was an amazing invention of the future...it really is incredible when you think about it...I cant even Imagine what will be possible by 2100 considering that all the advances we have today have accured in such a relatively small time period. 100years to develop some of our technology is nothing compared to the centuries ppl lived without it and advances in technology seem to be growing exponentially every year

lol you guys need to learn a little bit about physics before you get all excited about space travel
crushing dreams may follow

I know nothing may back it up but..."you never know."
Who would've thought that traveling at the speed sound was possible back then?
Electric guitars?
Trip to the moon? (Though some say this never happened)
Intelligent robots?
I could go on but you get the idea. If you think space travel is impossible, then you're crazy. Trips to Mars are already being planned.

you can't travel at the speed of light
when moving at near speed of light you get into non relative physics which in turn leads into some more exciting shit
also just being up in space has great effects on your body
this isn't appollo 13 where everyone comes off the shuttle striding to the camera, astronaughts are wheeled off in wheelchairs where they have to go through therapy for their muscles
also you don't age as fast when not on earth
so many factors it just isn't that likely right now especially with the cost factor

Haha you're missing the point. You cannot travel at the speed of light. It is a physical impossibility. That sorta ties into the immortal thing though, if you actually were to travel at the speed of light you would not age. Some of that theory of relativity shit is trippy.
