When people pre-tune ECU's what's done exactly?

Is it basically adjusting fuel, air, and ignition? What's done about timing, since you'd have to do that physically only, right?

I'm wondering would going from a SMIC + sr bpv to a FMIC + aftermarket bov (probably recirculated) setup affect the tune negatively. Would cam swaps affect it too (248/232)?

Would be a KA-T.

Pre-tuned ECU like JWT, Enthalpy and Emance(?) I believe all adjust for timing. You set base timing physically.

Usually, when you send your shit in, they ask you for the setup and they tune "accordingly".. pretty much off-the-shelf type deals.

Yeah, I was going to go with Enthalpy or Emance.

So you're saying they basically match up as best they can with pre-made ECU maps?

I'm only asking because I plan to run a SMIC setup at first, then upgrade to a FMIC setup. But I don't want to have to send it back in and spend extra $$ just to re-tune it if possible. Or at that point, would it be best to just dyno tune it with a wideband + safc2?

You should just go ahead and dish out for FMIC..
SMIC to FMIC = left over SMIC you have to deal with selling.

I don't think the tune differs that much from side and front mounts.

Then again, I might be wrong.

I already have a full SR SMIC setup. lol

I may just go ahead and get a FMIC setup, but if not, I wanted to confirm that I'd be somewhat ok when I went FMIC.

Sell smic get FMIC :)

That'd be better off asked to the manufacturer/tuners.

the ecu's from jwt or enthalpy change afr and ignition timing maps depending on your compression, cams, mafs, injectors etc. going from side to front mount won't affect anything and you wont have to get a reflash. basically, you can run the same tune changing from a t25 to a gt35, and a smic to a crazy v-mount seeing that the mafs, cams, and injectors stay the same. the ecu processes it's maps that jwt or enthalpy programs by the voltages the mafs reads. As for the cams, when they're bigger, obviously youre letting in more air, longer so they have to tune to accomodate for fuel. other than that, minor bolt on shit is good to go.

Gotcha...so the cam is the only major thing that will affect it? Thanks man.
