ive searched and searched and havent really come up with ne thing that addresses a DIY situation

so...ive been fighting with my toe issue on my car...im trying to fit my 17x9 +0s in the rear to the fenders...and id like to figure out a way to get 0 deg of toe in the rear (or proper toe fitment in the rear)

my biggest kicker is i have no example of what 0 deg is and a way to set it...all of my rear multilink is adjustable

basically i should just ask...is there a GOOD or EFFICIENT way of DIYing a rear alignment with positive results? (the alignment guy i use to go to use a flashlight and measuring tape on a rack....i get the idea of how he did it...but im sans a rack in my garage)

search google for; diy thrust angle, toe string method, and diy camber/caster. After you find some information, and learn what is involved you can PM me and we will talk. I just want to know how serious you are, so i dont waste my time.

I followed that sites writeup and it DOES work well. I have used it several times to align my car and while it is a bit time consuming, I can align the car in around an hour now with no fancy tools required.

is there any need to have turntables? If so, just a pair or all 4?

Lift up the rear end chalk and scribe the tires then let it down. Measure the distance in front of the rear tires and mark that measurement, then bring it around front and see how far off you are. Adjust it, then check the toe with the tape again. It may sound bootleg, but it works. Good luck.

IIRC...if you use jack stands you MUST level the work area. This is also true for camber. If you use toe plates/shelving board you don't need a level work area.

The way I set my toe to zero is just simply measuring the front of the rear tires from one particular tread groove straight across (use a balance beam to ensure straightness) to the other tire same groove. write down that measurement and compare it to the backs of the tires along the same guidelines. Then adjust toe slightly until you got the same measurement on both ends of the tires.

Then do the same for the front.

Works for me everytime, and my car doesn't pull and my steering wheel is straight.

Hope my description makes sense, if not PM me and I'll try to take some pics and post them up.
