HI i have a 96 240sx se and i wanna replace the stock speakers. but i dont know what sizes they are for front and back. Ive heard several different sizes and i wanna know what they really are...btw it has tweeter mount location if that helps at all. thanks

6.25" front and back.

would it be hard to fit 6.5 in the front and 6x9s in the back..

6.5" up front look like they'd fit... but there is no way in hell 6x9 will fit in the rear. Why would you want them, anyway? They produce bass, but sound like ass. Get some subs, run 2-way 6.25" up front, 3-way 6.25" in the rear, and some subs. That is quality sound.

Every speaker is different in different cars. If your friend has JBL and they sound good in his car, they might not sound good in your car. Then you have a budget to worry about, prefrence of manufacturers... I don't like opinion questions.
If you want the best, MB Quart or Boston Accustics are really nice. I have Polk Audio in my doors and rear.. and they are beautiful. Deafening music, sharp, clear trebel and no distortion. I have them hooked to a crossover, and they don't play sounds below 125Hz. Then I have 3 subs, crossed so they don't play above 125Hz. It is clean, crisp, and has blown my trunk latch apart.. but anyway. Ultimatly, the speaker choice is yours.
