View Full Version : S13 value? What is my built S13 worth?

My question is what is a fair price for this car? I'm trying to figure it out and once I do it will be for sale locally if anyone is interested. The only reason I'm selling it is so I can get out of my current townhouse and into a single family. I don't want to pull 10k out of my savings to pay down my mortgage just so I can sell my place so the toy has to go.

I’m trying to gauge what my S13 is worth. I bought the car in February 2007. It already had an SR (about 35000 miles) in it and was converted to RHD that was very cleanly (cleanly?) done. No rust anywhere at all. As mentioned the car was very clean when I bought it.

From there the entire car was stripped, including the glass, and was put on a wooden dolly for paint/bodywork. The whole car was painted inside and out. As you’ll see the side markers, squirters, badges, and antenna have been shaved. Every single part on the car was touched. It was either replaced by new OEM, new aftermarket, or was reconditioned and painted.

There was a lot of custom work done too. It’s not noticeable in the pictures but the firewall was smoothed out with fresh steel along with where the battery sat and on the opposite side.
You will notice that there is no brake booster. We custom installed a Wilwood Pedal Box and Wilwood Master Cylinders, which have been relocated behind the gauge cluster. The cable e-brake was removed and replaced with a K-Sport hydraulic e-brake.

I’m using an ARC 4 Panel Switch. The wire harness was completely reworked with all of the unused wires deleted. Almost all of the harness has been wrapped in a mesh sheath and was tucked.

There is no ac, though it does have heat. I kept the heater core and wired in a fan to the back of it that is controlled from the ARC panel. We made brackets that are riveted to the floor that aim the heat on the driver’s feet. It works really well.

This car is super clean. I’ve gotten lots of positive feedback from everyone that has seen it in person. From your average Joe to enthusiasts, to the best drifters in my area, some of who have their Formula D license.

I have way over $20k in this car with receipts to prove it. I have pictures throughout the whole build. There is probably a lot more I’m missing. I’m just trying to give as much info as possible to accurately gauge the value of my car so I can sell it.

Price wise, I don't know what it would be worth. I have to say though that I really enjoyed checking out the mini build. That is a super clean car.

Are you thinking of selling or just trying to figure out a value?

brndck
02-26-2008, 05:32 PM
yum yum yum. i'd say its worth the $20k you invested in it. but you'll hafta be patient to get that much for it. most people who want s13's are poor bastards like me and don't have that kind of cheddar. but i demand more pix!!! and +rep for u anyways!!!

Dang, thanks! I do want to sell it unfortunately.

DarkPhoenix
02-26-2008, 05:46 PM
Unfortunately, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay. That is what happens when you get to modding an "old" car.

Clean car and build though. I could see it going for the 20K you invested.

From the look of it and the mod list. It all depends on how fast you want to sell it. If you want to sell it fast, list it for $15-16k. If you are not in too much of a rush, list it for $20k. It sure as hell looks worth it and looks like a top notch build. +Rep for you.

I have no idea what the value of the car is. If you plan to sell the car here on Zilvia, you should make a build thread. I think it'd really help sell the car.

Dare I say it, this coupe is Broadfield caliber+.

I would part it out until it gets down to the 10k level and then sell it. 20k is a large lump sum. things like the brix, wheels, suspension part it all out. Put lowering shocks/springs, fn01rc, s13/s14 seats in there.

that car is damn fucking clean. I could almost say for sure that short of getting it in a Magazine to recoup what you put in it. You will probably sell it for less than what you have in it. Honestly If I had put that much work and time into I would not sell it. That is the kind of thing you do to something your going to keep or a Classic thats headed to Barrett Jackson. Which a 240 is not.

20k? Wow. Why spend so much?
Huh?? WTF does that mean??

Your car is OFFICIAL. So damn clean. I'm thinking with enough patience you could find someone to give you $18k for it. But like someone else said, you might be better off selling the higher end parts separately and selling the shell & engine for closer to $10k. But damn, i would just keep it. Please don't crash that beautiful shell!!!

Where abouts in MN are you at? I've never seen any halfway decent 240s, muchless shit that looks that minty. Is that just you're spotless DD, or do you do events with that thing?? If so....tell me where!!

Dayummm... BA car bro. I would like to advertise the complete truth right now. Your car is Definitely worth 18k.. or more. but I have had some hard times selling my vehicles for way less than they were worth for instance supercharged silverado (covered in a mag) rims and supercharger kit cost 9k alone. put it on ebay and a whole bunch of other site and only got 9k after trying to sell for 6 mos :(. Its because of the economy. Hard to find jobs (less money) Its a buyers market right now. so probably not gonna get that much. but thats just my 2 cents. on the other hand. wait a little longer so people get their tax returns and 240s are becoming sought after a lot more than a couple years ago so you might have a chance looking from that aspect. and spring is comming fast!! drift season :)

GLWS tho... beautiful coupe.

sr20drifter1
02-26-2008, 07:58 PM
Wow!That's all I can say.
You should be able to sell it for at least $18,000. Put it on Ebay with $17,500 starting price and a very low reserve of $18,000. In that case you will still get some money. Those pictures prove how much the car is worth. If it doesn't sell. Just sell your parts. Sometimes I'm amazed how much money I make selling parts that I don't need anymore. GLWS.

I'm in Minneapolis. It's not my daily driver. Unfortunately there currently aren't any events in MN. There may be one at Elko Speedway this year otherwise it's over to WI or Chicago for events.

Very nice. It's probably worth $15K-$17K range I'd say, and I wouldn't sell below that if it was mine. However, you never get what you put into a car back, and expecting to do so is really unrealistic.

Since it's a 240 however... expect to be lowballed for a long time before someone coughs up the amount it's worth. Sell it fast for cheap, or wait and wait and sell it for what it's worth. That's how you sell any 240. :-/ lol

There's a S14 around here that's been for sale for over a year. Price isn't unreasonable; kids who want 240's are just poor.

Really nice car! Thats a clean ass car, awsome work. Did you rebuild it or did have someone professionally do it? Cause if someone is spending this much on a car it would be nice to know that a shop did the work. So if a shop did do it then thats probably about 6k labor w/o body work. So you would be able to get more for it considering the labor for everything. Top notch stuff. I would probably say about 16-17k but I would start at 19k.

jakerps13
03-01-2008, 09:57 AM

Did you ever figure out a price for this pretty penny? The only thing i hate about 240s is we get nowhere close back what we put in. Good luck with the sale i can see this car going for maybe 15k, but even that is going to take a while.:spank:

!Zar!
03-01-2008, 07:56 PM
Car would sell for about 12k~ I've seen ones sell for 15+ but they had even more work/money put into it.

Sucks you put more in it but you never get back what you wish/should.

r6_240sx

Wow, I love full strip builds.

I think this can easily sell $18-20k by a true enthusiast that knows the work you put in it. Expect to get low-balled for it though by the typical 240 owners.

honestly ive seen your build up thread and i would pay more than 20k on your car if i was in the market for it.. Very detailed and everything restored or changed or fabricated... and kept looking stock OEM... the only thing i would change is the front bumper to the silvia aero add some sideskirts and rear valence and call it a day.. but i would pay what you are asking for without a doubt... looks too clean and sexy.. good luck

Or it's a muscle car restored and sold at a auction. Performance cars will never sell for more than it's been invested in. That;s why i'm keeping my s14 and building it step by step to have it until it breaks in half or the wheels fall off. :D

LOL!jk! your car is awesome, and its too clean to a point where it won't get appreciated. If it had a clean kit (like instant gentile men), AC, SUBS!, and more show stuff, you MIGHT be able to get 17k honestly.
