I just read a couple threads about people who buy stuffs online such as zilvia.net and got scammed. So I'm about to buy some stuff over ebay too and I just want to make sure that it's safe. I saw this guy selling pmb coilover on ebay, and I offered him a deal. Then the deal expired before I could response to him again. So now he emailed me about selling it to me through paypal and not ebay. So what is the best step for me to take and avoid being scammed?
thanks guy
his name is Tristan, and his ebay account is tristla with about 10 (100%)good rating but most of them is buying stuff. Thanks

ebay doesnt advise buying items off of ebay that are advertised on ebay. so i say NO. as far as zilvia goes...lets see, i just spent $3000 last week buying parts from legit people on Zilvia, do your homework on buyers before you trust them and you will have a good experience here =)

its all a matter of rep to me. good rep=good seller/buyer

As a general rule of thumb you should never buy anything that you can't pick-up unless the seller is clearly reputable. I have only been ripped off once on zilvia and it could have been prevented if I did my homework on the seller.

I've bought about 4,000 dollars worth of shit including my current 240 from ppl on zilvia, the funny thing is that I never got any rep from anyone....and yes I paid same day on paypal and everything, hmm whatever.....but yes I just pm them a few times asking questions and such, if they are willing to take a pic of the part/s with a piece of paper with a specified random word written on it and they send it to you, chances are they have the part and are legit. Thats what I do and it's never failed, the one time i didnt do that I was scammed.
ive been scamed before...
what you should do if you reallie want these coilovers and its a good deal then do it.
but first get his name and number and address.
tell him you need cofirmation that you live there and your not a scammer.
make shure make shure you have more then one way of reaching this person.
email is shit. get his number or ask for more then one number if possible.
and make shure this guy picks up. once you have his number you noe his area code and if it matches the address then your good with your contact.
get as many pix as you can tell him to write something on the picture so it get a lil more proof that this is the part he has and its not just some picture he just got online. the date or a signature or some sort.
if he really wants your money he will jump through the hoops and be nice.
make shure you get a tracking number and tell him you will need a tracking number within atleast 3 days of payment or i will be forced to file a dispute.
seems a lil harsh but this way your both safe. all he has to do is show a tracking number to paypal and they will take off the dispute. and then you got your tracking. once you got that your pretty much good. all you will have to do is check your package on site dont let the delivery guy leave with out your signature
if the part is damaged or not the right item or missing parts you tell hte guy its not the write part. and you can sigh damaged.
sorry for my long story but this is the way to be safe.

Well see so many people fail to realize you get good ratings aka reviews by being a seller and sometimes rep. Mostly reviews. I personally do not review buyers because they want it, they buy it. Done deal.
The current review system is setup to review sellers not buyers. Hence why you have not received any rep or reviews for your buying.
I sell a lot of stuff and if you asked me to write a specific word next to the pic of the item I was selling I would laugh at you. Though you think its effective it truely is not, a seller could still scam you.
The best deterrent for not getting scammed here and anywhere on the net is making sure whoever is selling is reputable. Making sure they have been around for awhile and are not going anywhere. Making sure they participate in the forum i.e. are a active member of the community. Making sure its not a to good to be true deal. A lot of the people that get scammed get scammed by too good to be true deals.
Its called common sense. Quite often in the past I have seen prices of stuff that was way to cheap and I smelled scam and one of you guys goes and tosses his money anyways.

If rep was based on just buying and selling stuff on here i would agree
