alright, up until tonight, everything was working fine, then I get in my car and when I turn on the car, both the e-brake and the battery light come on, and stay on...

I know the brake is all the way off, and the battery doesn't appear dead, as the car starts just fine. Any ideas what this might be?

thanks,
Alden

If your ebrake is on, that probably means that you need brake fluid.  And as far as the battery... you might wanna check the cells... if they are low, fill them up with either battery acid from a parts store, or distilled water.

now I get in the car today, and the e-brake light is off, but the battery light is still on, but the car starts up fine, the alarm has been on all night, and hasn't killed the battery...also the battery is one of those maintenance free ones, so no way to fill it....man, I friekin hate electrical quirks....

Why am I thinking that there is an alternator fuse?  I may be thinking about another car, but that sounds right to me.

hmm.....man I wish I could check this out, right now my car is on post, and I got a ride home...anyone know if this is true?

After the car died while driving down the road tonight, then took a jump just fine, and died again, I'm 99% sure it's the alternator, so hopefully today we'll be finding one cheap from a junkyard or I'll have to break down and get one from discount...we'll see..

but if there was a fuse this would make everything even that much easier...

thanks for all the responses though, it's much appreciated

Alden

Check for a short in the alternator.

Civic95, my damned battery light doesn't go off either! Ever since I bought the car. I've changed batteries, had electrical tests done, etc. The more load I have on the battery (fogs, stereo) the brighter the light is. And it sorta flickers randomly, not even to the bass of the stereo. So I have no idea either. You just get used to it. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Both my battary light and ebrake light or on also. Happened after I jumped some chicky's car one night.

My volt meter reads fine with the car on, however with the car off and just power it read 13.9 - 13.1. Either way I'm pretty sure it's just my battary.

All this alternator talk is starting to scare me.

Alternator is dying. It'll last a little while longer, but you'll drain your battery, and eventually, either your alternator will seize or your battery will fail to hold a charge at all.
Go get a new alternator.

If you guys replace your alternators remember to charge your battery.......

the alternator you bought in feb. was it brand new or remanufactured? jw.. because my gf had the same problem in her ae86 corolla..take the alternator out and bring it back to wherever you bought it and see if they can test it.

anyways the story was..
1. we were getting a charge and brake light
2. replaced battery and alternator(reman.)
3. still got the charge and brake light
4. brought the alternator back to autozone to get tested. and it was bad. they replaced it for free.
5. no more charge and brake light.

so yeah we pretty much bought a shitty remanufactured alternator..
