So when I rebuilt my motor I neglected to replcae the bolt on the head next to the distributor.

That one. So I went to put it in and I noticed that there is not a hole in the cometic gasket for said bolt.
There is a slight oil leak at the hole which 1. makes a lot of smoke off the xhaust manifold = annoying
and 2 I seem to lose a slight bit of head pressure which scares the hell out of me.
Has any one ever had to tap this hole into the gasket? Could I have been sent the wrong year ie. does a different year KA not have this bolt?

Why does the outside of your head and manifold look oil soaked? The inside looks brand new.

is there a safe way to punch a hole in the gasket?

lightly drill a hole

akward angle without removing the head and that will be las resort. I need a dremel with a flexable tube/head...

yea probably a dremel would be your best bet. Or maybe a small 90 degree angle drill might work. Are you sure you got the right one and install it right? Just want to make sure.

It fits right other than this one botl. I'm wondering if the later models didn't have this bolt and I possibly was sent that gasket. I'll try and find a drill that fits tonight.

lol!! omg, ur block is WHITE!!
if u wind up drilling it somehow: use alot of grease to catch all the metal shavings so ur threads wont be jammed up.

Damn 13 KA's, weird, looks like the bolt is outside the "specified" gasket area. Between the timing chain cover & headgasket, I wouldn't think drops that far down? lol.
when the timing cover comes over that section, just use blue gasket.

Nope, that hole is definitely on the head not the cover.

it goes from the head to the front cover. It doesn't bolt to the block. I drilled it out last night. Later this week when I get back to the shop I'll seal a bolt in with RTV and see if she still leaks.
