is any one running the OS giken 5-speed gear sets ? and what about the HKS 6speed with the dog leg 1st gear?
Dogleg- 1st gear is where 2nd gear is located on the stock 5-speed ka or sr tranmission.

What exactly are you asking... For opinions on the setup?
Yes. Dogleg's first gear is to the bottom left. Much like most bimmers and what not. Nothing fancy.

Was it worth the money or was there something else out there better ? , only noticed the Os set is for gears 1-3. 4th gear is left alone and 5th is the same ratio in the SR20DE n/a transmission.
BMW, dog leg is very hard to find only seen it in Euro spec BMW's and some euro E30 M3's

i believe he is asking if anyone has any experience with the setup's... not actually opinions. i dont have any experience with either of these setups, however when i have my FD i was looking into the hks 6-speed and found it to be extremely expensive. i also do believe there was a post on an issue similar to this, someone wanting to buy a good solid trans for under $4k or something and there was a trans shop that was recommended for doing good custom work. could be wrong though... happy hunting

I have a dogleg in my 5-series. As well as my 911 had it. Solid and I never had any drama what-so-ever. Shifting is brainless. Not weird like some people say.

You're spending close to 6k for a tranny... I'd suggest replacing the gears with os giken ones. That should be all you need.
But the only person I know who blows out gears left and right is Baby.
But he's magical.
The Aussie who was selling the $4k tranny I wouldn't trust. He was selling fake product and lagged horribly on many people on this board as well as many others.

thanks for the heads up, but as for swapping with some other transmission from nissan its really frustraintg to find that Close ratio box I would like to have, Its nice that the Nissan FWD SR16VE's have a very nice transmission that is sought after by all of the turbo FWD guys. would be nice to use the gear set in a rwd set up.
but this is gonna make me take apart a stock SR20 RWD transmission and look at making something I would like to have w.o spending $10k for the box I would like to have.

OS is mainly sold to people who've been blowing up gears.
why don't you just change your ring? 4.36 is pretty nice, and 4.6 is good if you have the redlline to go with it.
500$ compared to 3k+ at any rate.

Already have it, want to get something better as for the transmission raitos to make it a close ratio box+a 6th gear to let me curze on the freeway. Not liking the 5th gear cruze on the freeway.

A six speed tranny will have the same final drive as a five speed tranny.
