Okay the wheels I want only come in a +40 offset which fits my stock S13 fastback just fine, but to acheive the flush appearance, I need about a +30 offset. I looked into the H&R wheel spacers, what do you guys think about them?? I've heard some bad things about them, but whats wrong with them?? Also, do you have to lengthen the studs so that the wheel lugs will screw down enough? Thanks everyone, Jason.

Why? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':eh:'>
Spacers are fine, just make sure you get the proper hardware... i.e. longer studs and a hubcentric ring (if the spacer isn't properly sized ... I think) so the rim sits well on the car. (looking at spacers/my hub/my rims, I don't see why hubcentric rings are so important, though...)

Hubcentric Rings make it so there is no vibration noise while driving.

yup.. longer studs are needed since the studs on your car right now is pretty short...
but i never heard the term hubcentric rings..
can someone describe it?
yea i know its a stupid question but somebody has to learn something <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/alien.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':alien:'>

If you look at your hub you'll notice that in the middle is a lip. That's where the wheel sits. With an ordinary spacer it's almost impossible to get it centered on that lip.
Hubcentric spacers, ring and wheel adapters extend that lip in order to properly mount your wheel.
Check out projectsilvia.com in their wheel section they have pictures of everything I'm talking about.
From the way the Hubcentric rings look is seems pretty easy to recreate with some flared pipe. At some point I'm gonna run over to home depot as see if I can fab something up for my crappy pepboys spacers. In the long run I'm probably gonna end up buying the one's on project silvia.
Hope this helps.

Well, I have hte crappy spacers and I've been paying for it ever since. Have high wheel "nibble" at 50-60 mph. I believe its caused by (as Foxcolt said) the spacer removing the hubcentric ability of the wheel.
I've looked at for H&R spacers and can't find any for my S13... looked at options auto. Any suggestions where I can find H&R spacers?
I do like the stuff at silvia.com, but if I want to space out the wheels 5mm, how? They don't offer hubcentric 5mm wheel spacers... They do offer 15mm hubcentric rings, but no 15 mm spacers... what? buy 5mm and 10mm and hubcentric ring? No way...
Any ideas?

Most aftermarket wheels are 'stud centered' aren't they? They center themselves when you torque down the bolts.

hey i guess i can add to this a little.. i had tenzo wheels for a wile and they were +34 offset....shhh yeh know i know.. ill never go back.. anywase. i had to have a little spacer in the front so it would clear my shock... i just got them from some place near me that sold aftermarket wheels.. they are nothing special. just a 1/4 inch piece of metal witha lot of wholes in it.. it worred but id never do it again.. sorry if this is no help.. here is wat my car somewat looked like.. its photochopped but i never got to take a pic with them on my car.

Ok lemme see if I can clear this up a little. I put on 20mm spacers from H&R about a month ago. The spacers have extending lips on them to act as a "false hub" so that the wheels can still be centered on something during installation(this is what they mean by hubcentric spacers). It is important to have this "false hub" even with aftermarket wheels (The car WILL shimmy if the wheel is not mounted properly . . . ask me how I know). The H&R spacers were of the highest quality . . . no problems there. However the studs that are included in the kit are pieces of crap. These are not manufactured by H&R, they are a third party manufacturer. The main problem that I and atleast 3 other list members had was that when installed, there was still play in the stud ( you can wiggle the end of the stud back and forth a little). This is not safe and you could end up spinning the stud inside the hub when putting on or taking off lugnuts (meaning you would not be able to take the wheel off). The problem is that the knurl is not long enough to fill the width of the hub or atleast enough to keep the stud from moving around. I ended up having Nismo studs overnited to me and those went in like a charm. My hub was not damaged at all and I have informed H&R of the problem. If you can, then what you want is the H&R spacers with aftermarket studs i.e. Nismo, KYO-EI, or ARP (will need diff pitch lugnuts for these). I hope this helps a little.
O yea with the spacers from Project Silvia, those "hubcentric rings" are meant to work with the adapter kits. The 10mm spacer has no "false hub" or any way to keep the wheel centered while you mount it. I would expect it to produce a shimmy at 55mph.
Wow this became alot longer than I anticipated.

i use 30 mm bolt on spacers
i drift on them
i road race w/ them (track meanign road race)
i am doing auto-x with them soon too
i daily drive w/ them
never had a problem. i re-torque them each time i have my car's wheels off and that's it. general maintenance (wheel is off at least 1 a week anyways)
