Hey guys,
this is my first post on here, i am from Western Australia. not many people over here go big negative offset wide wheels etc, especially not WA, so the wheel threads on here and also ziptied are my main inspiration!
anyway i have bolt on copy Jun overfenders from memory +30mm all round but by the time they were flexed on to fit theyre a bit wider than that. i had 18x9 +24 with 35mm bolt on spacers, and 18x10 +11 with 30mm bolt on spacers and decided i wanted no more spacers and more dish, plus a little more offset all round.
i am going for new VS-XX, specs of 18x9.5 -19 front A disk, 18x10.5 -24 rear O disk. i am just curious what other people run &/or recommend tyre wise and castor & camber wise for clearance? i have sledgehammered my inner guard wells and moved the looms up as far as i can out of the way to allow me to run the car low, but was considering lower profile tyres to gain clearance at the front.
if up front i go for say +6 degrees castor (down from 8 currently), ~-3 camber, and 225/40 tyres do you reckon it will clear okay lock to lock and not scrub too much when low? the car is mostly show/occassion track work but not driven super hard 10/10ths all the time so if it rubs sometimes im not too fussed :P
cheers for any input and i hope i can contribute where possible!

Wow, nice first post. Clear, descriptive, etc.
If i were you, i would look at how your clearance was with the 18x10 +11 rims w/ 30mm spacers. The rims you just purchased will give you 1/2 inch more clearance on the fender side.
Exact fit is hard to say from an outside perspective simply because there are so many variables. IE:different brand tires fit different, different overfenders/fenders flare more than others, and the big one; ride hieght.
So, your best bet will be to go off the clearance of your previous set-up, and keep in mind you have an extrea 1/2 inch or so to work with.

no problem
i ran a 9j -20 with just a pull and camber
youw ill be fine.
castor wont really affect it, but camber will determine
you will be fine, depending on your height you will haev to take a hamer to certain parts, but that wont be known to anyone but you, becuase it is all determined on your height.

18x9.5 +15 is pretty much perfectly flush on a rolled/pulled s13 fender...
the difference between that and your wheels size is 34mm's..
so you should be looking good with the overfenders and 225/40's.
I bet you'll end up ruuning around -3-4mm camber to get real flush.

it will be no rubbing at all if you run 225/35/18 tire up front, but 225/40 should be not too big a problem

outside clearance should look good.
i'd be worried about rubbing the outside edge of the tire when turned.
if its a rolling chassis i'd say tub the fenders and run a shit ton of caster
but thats extreme
if these guys say you'll be fine then you shouldnt have a problem.
post some pics so we can get an idea of whats going on
plus i want to check this out! haha

Awesome first post.
As far as tire size, Depending on the brand of tire you go with, you should either run a 225/40 or 225/35, as said before. nothing bigger.
Camber, i would personally run 4.5 to 5 degrees, Negative of course.
You will be set. Goodluck!

only update is i got the order placed for the wheels last week (26/2) :D cheers for the input everyone, i'm confident i'll get them on now!
unfortunately ETA for them has been quoted as Early-Mid June to Aus. :P the guy i'm getting them through tells me they sometimes over-estimate to avoid people getting let down with delays, so i hope that's the case this time!
pics wise i havent taken any, not much to really look at anymore, i should have taken some when test fitting my old wheels on the front etc, but they are now sold and on the new owners car. so now i just have to sit back and wait ...!

old Tein HRs at present, theyre a bit worn out though so am going to upgrade soon (at least the fronts so i can get more camber if needed)

Today I up'd my spacer game and now I'm running 18x9.5 -15 up front on stock deathmetal, that's close to your size, I'll post a pic sometime.

Looking forward to seeing pics of them on the car! going to be great fitment. I just ordered my WORK VS-KF with similar size/offsets.

they do hit though - the only thing they hit, which i find odd haha is the large rubber grommet on the driver side where the harness comes through, they scrub it on the driver side at full lock! not the harness itself though, below that (cause i bent it up out the way)

oh shit i just realised you're from australia...hahaha. how do australians feel about americans? i've been thinking about traveling there, and potentially moving there.

I have the same problem on my 18x9's (much lower offset, but same place) :).
You can add positive caster to bring it away from the wheel wells or you can do what I did.
I just popped the rubber grommet off where it attaches to the chassis/well area, pushed it into the interior, put some duct tape around where it used to mount to protect any wiring, then used duct tape to cover the rest of the hole where the grommet used to be to keep outside fumes from getting into the interior cabin.
Your car looks amazing - of course, I'd trim the rear over fenders @ the bottoms so that they flow w/ the body, but that blue & the kit look very nice.

hey mate,
thats a good idea, i might get in there and do that on the weekend. i cant add any more caster as it is already maxed out @ ~8deg positive both sides and is super close the the front kit and washer bottle etc on lock.
yeah the flares i did at home with a mate and we just kindof did it by eye and i wasnt happy totaly with them so we rounded them a bit more. then the panel beater i said please round them a little more as you see fit to make them taper into the body somemore and he basically did NOTHING and then just painted it without even asking my opinion.... overall he SUCKED :P

car looks cool. I told you they would fit well with zg overfenders!
but i'd say lower the front more and bigger tires up front to fill the flare next time around.
also kind of a bummer that yo0u had to cut off the lower portions of the overfender to clear the bumper. maybe you should think about attaching the parts you cut off to the bumper/sideskirts so it flows better...

Bushido - yeah the abruptness of the flares is the only real remnant of the home job i did on the flares originally. i threw those pieces out without thinking realy as they flowed okay with the old kit, then i changed kit and it all sat a bit different.
tbh it was never meant to go tis far and be this "nice" hahah the way it was before it was all different shades of white and bits and pieces of different kit etc and i never thought it would get to the level it has ended up at..
as for lowering the front more, it is as low as those coilovers go with helpers and is about 80mm from the ground. also the rear cant go any lower so i didnt want to have too much rake. if i went 40 series tyres i reckon i would scrub everything cause its VERY close now. so i elected for 35 so i could go lower and not worry so much. Plus i am selling the car so i'm a bit over the headaches! but thought id update this topic for future reference for others!

Yah, your best bet is to reroute the whole harness inside the engine bay. That means, making a hole for it to go thru the firewall. If you already know its rubbing the grommet, dont even chance it...Nothing worst than electrical gremlins to fuck up your day...

For the harness use some sheet metal and wrap the harness up where the tire hits and tape the shit out of it.

i have relocated the harness up above the chassis rail at the top, and also removed some of plastic wrap on it and pulled it out a bit more and moved it up higher on more of an angle. have also pinned it back so it goes up at a 90deg angle from the firewall to avoid the tyre. But yeah i will have a look and see if i can make up a bit of metal to cover it at the back of the arch there so if the tyre ever does get to it it wont eat it!
