You get a higher velocity round with higher grain and it raises it close to the ..357 Sig which is a good round but it's just too rare for my tastes.

The nice thing about 9mm is you can find them anywhere.

Anyways ive had that .40 since i was 19 (6 years) and i still love it and will never get rid of it....i carry the federal hydra-shok hollow points in all my guns. I swear by that ammo for self defence. the .40 also has some nice rubber houge grips now....it feels really good in my hand and shooting now

^^^ Do NOT get that Springfield XD - my best friend in VA had a pair ("left" and "right" as he used to say) and not only are they slightly uncomfortable, but they jam every couple mags, whether you clean them or not. We thought we were cleaning it "too much" (every time we went to the range), so we did every other time (about 500 rds) and every 1000 rds, nothing improved the reliability.

I love my S&W .40 for CCW - small frame, very accurate to 15 yds or so (3" variance or so over 100 rds), and still decent out further than that. It's no match for my Colt Gold Cup comp 1911 (gift from uncle), but shit, it was like 1/10th the cost.

my dad has been in Law Enforcement for the last 22 years and has been on SWAT as high-ground cover for the last 12...he shoots a Remington 700 PSS in .308 Winchester...he took the PSG1 and the 700 out for a range day...says the PSG1 was DREADFUL to shoot in comparison...he now, for fun, puts up clays at 500, 750, and 1000 yards and hits 'em with the 700.

i almost bought the sw40ve....sounded like a great gun for the money...can't beat 300 bucks for a brand new S&W with 2 clips...

don't like the trigger pull....have you switched out the trigger spring for the Glock #4 spring( i believe its the #4)?

^^^ nah, had changed it out with a lighter trigger spring, but went back because I was riding my GSXR with this on my hip, and was worried about crashing/etc and having it go off (there's a secondary hammer/"drop" safety, and that would have to fail also, but still). I've gotten used to it after thousands of rounds at the range... besides, if you can shoot straight/consistently with a stiff trigger, you can always shoot with a hair trigger :)

nope....its a USP 45 Full size....thinking about buying the tactical barrel and swapping it out so i can get the suppressor....that or converting it into a USP 45 Match....

yea its a .45acp....you'll fuckin fall in love with it....so easy to shoot...accurate....you can take that shit to the beach, sit it in the sand, let the tide run over it, pop some new rounds in the clip and shoot as straight as ever....shit is nearly indestructable....

i bought mine used....police trade in at the Dixie Gun and Knife show....

and to the person who said they want the Springfield XD....unless its a really early model (like the first year they were made), don't even consider it....the early models were a much higher quality....The XD was originally made by some eastern european country and they used to cost around $250 brand new....Springfield bought em out and marked it up because of the name....brand new Full size XDs cost around 550 to 600 now...

I would only stay with HK and Glock for polymer frames....1911s are a different story....one of those will definatley be one of my next purchases..I desperatley want the S&W Doug Koenig Custom 1911....its a 38 super but shit is gorgeous...

...and to the person who said they want the Springfield XD....unless its a really early model (like the first year they were made), don't even consider it....the early models were a much higher quality....The XD was originally made by some eastern european country and they used to cost around $250 brand new....Springfield bought em out and marked it up because of the name....brand new Full size XDs cost around 550 to 600 now...

I would only stay with HK and Glock for polymer frames....1911s are a different story....one of those will definatley be one of my next purchases..I desperatley want the S&W Doug Koenig Custom 1911....its a 38 super but shit is gorgeous...


Really? I have over 1000 rounds through my xd .45 and it is a freaking tack driver. I changed out the sights to trijicon night sights but that is the only modification I have made to it. I would still want a h&k but this pistol is still worth every penny and I put my life on it as I ccw it nearly everyday.

Are DE's still retardedly overpriced? There are some nice .50's on a 1911 style frame that are reasonable and don't weigh a ton. Don't get me started on ammo, .45 is getting spendy now too.

a few of them hated glocks....they live by HK....and they have no problem with springfield, they love springfield's 1911s, just not the XD...
I actually saw the cracked side...it was on a xd40 that they just put in the rentals a few months before.

they have a usp45 at the range that has been a rental for the past 6 years.....never cleaned, no problems ever...still shoots straight as shit...thats how i made my decision...

i dont care what people say, i love glocks haha. full auto with an extended mag, sooooo fun. 9mm is pretty weak, but then again, if you ever have to use it on a thief, im guessing they wont be wearing a vest haha.

pity ONLY the G-18 is select-fire...but yes, they are quite fun. (also a glock-whore, had nothing but good experiences with them)

yes, the 17, which is the other full-frame 9mm...unfortunately, the fire selector switch and slide are tricky to come by, and those are (for the most part) the parts needed to do the conversion.

yea, my friends dad has a converted 17 i think, and according to him, it took a bit of handiwork. But i dont know much about gun customization. He's wishing he had a silencer haha. super illegal in cali.

No kidding, I went to wal-mart to get ammo and I was shocked how much cci brass went up in price for .45. It used to be $11 a box, now it is $15...gay.

I've saved enough brass to start reloading so I may be doing that pretty soon.

you CANNOT put a g18 slide on a G17 frame! They made the rails thicker on the g18 and its frame wider just so you couldnt interchange the parts.... Look it up
